More modifiers for regular missions

There are only a few of them. I recently shifted to Auric difficulty and the shock troop modifier is practically impossible for me at the moment. I skip the dark maps, too, because they destroy my eyesight. I also need to skip missions with short availability, because quickplay won’t fill the empty slots after the mission becomes unavailable. So there is only 1-2 missions that I can play from the Auric board in a given moment. Sometimes this goes down to zero. 75% comes with shock troop modifier and that’s a crazy ratio.

Therefore, I would like to request a little more variety, if possible. You created many modifiers already, some could be transferred to the regular maps.

There could be a mission type where we get night goggles for example. The maps might be a bit lighter, but everything would be in green color. Wounded players still could see in grayscale.

What you’re describing is literally just turning up the brightness on your monitor so that the night missions are playable. If you struggle with the current auric modifiers I don’t think adding new ones is going to suddenly make the mode easier for you. It will just make it difficult to near unplayable for you in new original ways. I mean this genuinely, because I used to struggle with auric too, but the solution is actually just to play more until you’re comfortable on damnation and can adapt to the increased difficulty, not to make auric modifiers that make the mode easier. That’s what damnation is.

Regardless, we need to free the modifiers anyway.

If only there was a system for rotating a major modifier every week that was automated (as in you could set up a playlist of modifiers and you could just add/remove modifiers from the list as new ones are made and old ones are made redundant) and then not abandoned getting stuck on a single modifier for months when devs went on vacation.

Honestly, it feels like the person working on that system either just left or was moved somewhere else and Fatshark just forgot about it.

This!

Also modifier ideas:

Divide modifiers into 3 categories, listed below. This approach gives each mission a structured unpredictability-players can anticipate and adapt within each category, while still being surprised by new mixes.

New modifier - Moebian Domain: Scab Only Elites/Specialists. BoN, Chaos Spawn, Plogryn Bosses replaced by Captains or chance of Twins. Moebian 51st replaces poxwalker hordes, more frequent 51st horde ambushes. Mixed horde ambushes now include an upgraded Captain and apply Power Supply Interruption until that Captain is defeated.

Category 1: Environmental -

Pox Gas, Lights Out, Inferno, Ventilation Purge, None. (“None” would carry more weight than the other possible modifiers)

Category 2: Enemy Composition -

Brute Conscripts, Moebian Domain, Shock Troop Gauntlet, Sniper Gauntlet, Hunting Grounds, Heinous Rituals, Nurgle Totems

Category 3: Unholy Blessings

Pus Hardened Skin, Mutated Horrors, Nurgle’s Blessing, Encroaching Garden (on Trapper/Flamers only), Final Toll (Scab Elites & Captains), Rotten Armor or No modifiers

Then to further make Elites more dangerous on an individual level without compromising the phenomal sense of fighting against overwhelming odds Darktide is known for, some noteworthy community suggestions have been:

I. Nerf Outlier Player Traits - Batter only procs for a short period after push attacks, Soulblaze capped at 16 stacks globally with no buff from Rending Blessings, Uncanny capped at 40% Rending, Concussive Talent nerfed or removed, VOC no longer gold toughness, high Plasma cleave locked to charge attack, Slide no longer counts as dodge at zero stamina and has more stamina consumption

II. Make Elites Dangerous - Crushers get stronger stagger resistance, Reapers much stronger suppression resistance, Gunners suppression resistance, in addition to new Elites/Specs (links below) that would actively modify the area around themselves - creating high spikes in intensity that can be prioritized and eliminated without audio cue breaking spam

III. Hordes: More frequent poxwalker hordes, more Stalkers/Bruisers in Damnation+, unrelenting hordes on Auric+ - with key breaks around Auspex/Capacitor events to slow the combat pacing and allow team focus on objectives. Hordes like these don’t require sound cues nearly as much as Elites/Specs.

New Elites ideas:

Moebian Domain

Plaguebearers

Thanks for the change in the mission type ratio.

Yeah, most of the modifiers are there to make the mission harder (and boy do people whine about that). Having said that, I would also like more variety on the board.

I genuinely think we will get a better mission board. I just think fatshark mistimed the update and genuinely didn’t mean to leave it in its current state. We just need to be a bit more charitable sometimes.
