More Character slots please?

5 is pretty low. I know this is kind of a weird request but i used up my 5 already and know more Arch types are coming.

by tweaking the mod, you can have 20 loadouts also…

This is true. 5 character slots will make it hard to keep up with the new class every 3 months that they promised. I mean, we’re already closing in on a year of release, so mathematically we already have 8 of them.

aah. cool. Would rather it be a feature though.

Another point would be changing backgrounds or voices. Which fatshark should probably roll that in with the Barber. UNLESS ofcourse. They have more plans in the pipeline for Backgrounds. Potentially giving stat bonuses depending on back ground which would be cool and a good addition to the RPG features they wanted to shoot for.

Bud, we already got 8 classes after 3 quarters. They are, even now, about 4 quarters ahead of their original schedule even after completely switching their plans for the future and core mechanics of the game. For the better, in my estimation.

There has never been any promise of new archetypes; they only said it is a possibility. I’d love to see it but it’s no guarantee.

Don’t know if this is sarcasm , in any case no what you are describing are not new classes. The game describes this as a class

and so far we got none.

play with words…

They wanted to release 1 class per quater, and we had at start veteran sharptrooper, zealot preacher, ogryn skullbreaker and psyker psykenetic.
Now the possibilities have been multiplied by 3.
Sure, it is not what they announced. It is better.
But you can complain you preferred the class before patch 13. My opinion is that this patch has bring us more than just 8 new gameplays / class… as we can really mix everything with 81 possibilities per tree (if we only take into account blitz / ability / aura and keystones).

I’d call those more combat disciplines then more classes as that would be misleading there is 4 classes with 3 combat disciplines skill trees for each

your choice…
I guess you would have preferred only 12 choices instead of 81.

Anyways, the patch was well received and has pleased the majority.
That’s your right to dislike the tree system for a restricted class system.

Never said I didn’t like it Just said it’s misleading to say there is more than 4 classes when there isn’t

Then that is an understandable misunderstanding. That screen used to be where you selected veteran sharpshooter, zealot preacher, etc. Now the title is a vestige of the older system.

They were always very clear on their own terminology during development though. Ever since the class reveal blogs and shorts. Veteran, Zealot, and such are “archetypes” and Sharpshooter, Preacher, and such are “classes.” Yes, there was a lot of confusion because each archetype only had a single class but people got over it.

I don’t know if their official terminology has changed or not, most likely the character creation screen title is not on their priority list. But, in any case, if we are to view their promise of “1 class per quarter” in good faith, we have to regard it in the same language they were using at the time.

Of course, their plans for the game have changed considerably since launch. So we have to take that on board too. In this case, though, I think their plan changed for the better. The new trees are far more interesting and offer nearly infinitely more variability than the VT2 career style talents.

Im talking about save slots for characters. This thread was not about new archtypes or whatnot. we just can create 5 characters atm.

Thanks for providing those screenshots on this; I remember having a similar discussion about this and, as far as I had been aware at the time, FS had not really delved into whether a class meant Veteran/Psyker/Zealot/Ogryn, or the specialisations provided by the talent tree - it’s good to know that they did actually explicitly define the terms in a public post.

I never got why they had this limit - probably some economic reason.
But then I also assumed that any real new classes would just come with extra slots, when you guy a DLC or smth.
Or just go full F2P and allow buying extra slots.
But, with the new tree system, which I very much like, I don’t know how they’d add a new class, or at least it’d be way more work, so that theory doesn’t seem likely enough anymore.

So, obviously, no idea. But yes, the amount of slots is certainly odd.

Why do you want more characters? You can already have one of every class and switch between every possible build within the class.

I have 6

for what?
To complete stupid contracts with the class I want to play…
So I have 2 zealots and 2 veterans.
To be honest, I have given up the other veteran, but I use the zealot.

They can certainly add more archtypes and give them the same tech tree. It just is going to take a little longer to design each individual archtype now though because you will have to build them around the tech tree. For example Tech adept or a Tech priest would get a Combat Solo/ combat or support minion route

purely because of costumisation limits and dont want to delete a character to do this.

I don’t think there’s a problem with customization. That just falls on laziness imo. I can understand the lack of progression though because you’re capped at level 30. If anything, they should add something to make it seem like you’re still progressing towards something the more hours you’re putting in. Add some more character frames, weapon skins, or trinkets. Something to work toward.
