That’s not my job, it’s your poll mate. You asked if options are missing and I am telling you they are. It’s your job to make good questions that will allow people to vote on any spectrum of the subject. I suggest reading something like this: Writing great survey questions: Expert tips and templates
And Google “creating neutral and objective poll questions” and study. I won’t do your job. I am your feedback, you are the creator.
With Internet nowadays, it’s not really hard to read how to formulate and write polls. There are hundreds studies/articles about it. It just takes time.
As someone who studied Statistics - if you want your results to be taken seriously, you need to first formulate good poll and objective questions. Otherwise they are not valid as source of statistic result. Any bias in questions lead to biased, aka “unreliable” result.
And still after 3 times you have not yet written the poll you want added. So what do you want? just arguing to argue?
And this is not my “job”… feel free to not participate if you don’t care about this topic. Fact is we had several threads about this topic. As I said, I tried to pull together all positions. Also, I have not said What do you want, but are you agree with this position/proposal.
Also, if you wanted a new question added, I have written it, I can add it.
Just formulate it… as if I write it you don’t agree with it. Then it is now YOUR job to phrase it.
Ok, I will give you some tips but changing subject to Burgers.
Basically your second question is like that:
Burgers are fine
Burger is fine but I dont want salad
Burger is fine but without cheese
Burger is fine but without souce
Burger is fine but I don’t want bacon
Burgers should only be served outside and not inside restaurant
Everyone should just eat basic Burger
I have no opinion on Burger
While better formulated it would be:
I am fine with their Burger menu
I am not fine with their Burger menu:
-Why?: a) Too many ingredients in Burgers/Menu
-What Ingredients you don’t like in Burgers
a1) I don’t like X ingredient because it doesn’t suit burgers
b1) I don’t like X ingredients becasue they make Burgers less tasty
c1) I can’t feel the original taste of burger meat becasue of X ingredients being too dominant b) Too little ingredients in Burgers/Menu
-What Ingredients you are missing for our Burgers/Menu that you’d like to add:
a1) X Ingredients
b1) Y Ingredients
etc.
Now obviously it’s just a very very general example since it would need way more work, but I hope it will give you some overview. Polls are very hard to do especially the more board question you want to ask. Also not all questions can be formulated to ready answers. Some (like in case of mods) would need open questions where people can write stuff (like with ingredients on burgers, you can’t list them all and all different options).
For example one of your questions says “Prohibition of: Spidey Sense, Scan helper, Decode helpers ONLY” . What about people wanting Scan Helper, but not wanting Spidey Sense-like mods? Or counterwise? You can’t predict all ready answers like that. This would need to be “open question” in poll. You put 3 options in one category, while it might not be same category for players. It’s badly formulated answer that don’t even ask question like “which mods you think are interfiring with game design too much? Choose from following list (30+ mods listed here deemd most controversial)”. Stuff like that.
But my example of Burgers look more neutral as trying to give people options to vote for both “more” and “less” evenly. I would also next add options if they want to add more while removing some existing or adding more on top of ones we already have on menu (or even maybe put this question in poll before the other two), but obviously that would require days of work to formulate good poll.
Your poll is ok for your personal information if you like it but can’t be in no way seriously taken as “community” opinion becasue it’s just not objetively formulated and it’s too bloated with too many options that gravitate towards certain opinion on subject.
you did not help with your lesson of how to do a poll
I am not a Fatshark employee and this is just a forum
I won’t conduct a 3 days works just to build a poll
You did not phrase any proposition (again)
Final word. You should write it. I let you do that with quoting all mods published on Nexus. Good luck with the 18 pages of mods. Don’t forget one please.
As I said: I am not interested in that, It’s not my poll and not my business but you asked for feedback so you got it. Your problem what to do with it.
I won’t formulate anything for you. It really just takes couple of hours of reading Google results on this topic + making in Excel a template for a better poll and you don’t need 18 pages of mods (it’s not even that much, try hundreds for other games) since there are only a couple of mods that constantly spark discussion here on Forum and one list of maybe 10-20 mods would cover them all.
Well, I will do nothing… I took an initiative cause there are a lot of threads opened on same topic. There will be always someone that is not happy, today that’s you.
But at the end of the day, I just wanted to push to get a general opinion of what the community thinks.
As I said, if you’re not happy with the poll, feel free to redact one better. It should be easy as you already know what to do.
Biased…
Cause there could be more problematic mods.
As it has been pointed, all of this is subjectivity. And I have put all opinions I have read (considering i wanted a general picture sure I did not ask mod by mod, this is clearly NOT the topic here) I had not met someone that wanted to push further the mods.
And the idea was not to talk about such mods, but try to define a category.
Putting a mod in a category is pure subjectivity (and it has been pointed already in the thread opened about mods). however, I think there are enough polls to reflect what players think.
And the option to push for less restrictions on mods, I had not read it… so maybe a mod not quoted on the forum could annoy someone. So why would you exclude one of the mods on Nexus? why would you restrict the list of mods? This is biased considering your reasoning and you should quote the 18 pages of mods.
I wish that FS gave more, and more specific, guidance on the sort of mods they approve of without reservation, and the sort of mods they see as problematic, and why.
OTOH, seeing how bloody stupid, err … I mean vehement, the mod threads get, I suspect that might be even more trouble than a sanctioned mods system.
The only example I could really think of is if FS allowed FTD & Weapon Customization to communicate customizations to other players. It won’t happen of course because FS’s long-term monetization is selling skins and this would kill skin sales.
Ehh…I don’t think this is a safe assumption, it’s too often a thing ppl point to to instill a sense of legitimacy and “sanctioned” status to.
It was addressed more eloquently by @Murderer
It is a perfectly safe assumption that the mods that have been available on the totally-public Nexus for months and downloaded by tens of thousands of people are tacitly approved.
And when FS says otherwise, everyone can react accordingly.
The fact that there are private mods out there means nothing, except to reinforce that policing mods isn’t simply a matter of removing them from highly-visible public websites.
EDIT: also, for anyone else reading, the modding Discord does not house any mods that break FS’s policies and there is an active effort by the community there to suppress/remove such offending mods.
I voted for fairly free mod system, however big influence in me having this opinion comes from how slowly Fatshark handled the verification of mods in VT2.
Since not many players abuse the “cheat” mods i don’t want the entire mod community to suffer because a few bad apples.
To wait for Fatshark to verify and approve of evry mod would require too long.
Having a modded realm would split the players.
In my utopia Fatshark would have a monthly pass on mods, ban what they believe not appropriate and implement in the base game what is acceptable.
FS has already said they don’t want to get involved, and left us to self-police. It doesn’t mean that can’t get involved even with some simple objections/guidelines for the most egregious outliers (we all know what they are).
There are many common-sense alternatives on the table aside from the chicken-little “sky is falling” scenarios others (not me) have already discussed.
For anyone looking for context: there are just over 144,000 players who have downloaded the mod framework. FS provided a guesstimate some months ago that 1/3-1/2 of PC players mod.
The mod here is gpk’s ol’ bugbear, Spidey Sense, and the latest version has 2.9k downloads as shown. Since launching in December of last year, the mod has racked up a whopping 13k downloads.
Based on 50% of PC players playing modded, that would put all-time Spidey Sense users at about ~4.5% of PC players (assuming they all are actually using it and didn’t just download it once, like I and gpk have). And users playing with the latest version account for, at most, 1% of PC players.
