I purchased a Sapper Shovel Cosmetic item from the shop some time ago, however I went to apply it to a new shovel today and the option to apply the skin to the new shovel was not available. I am 100% certain it should be available for this weapon but the option to apply it is missing entirely.
I am guessing that you are trying to apply a non-folding shovel skin like the Krieg one to a folding shovel. They’re not compatible.
You can trick it by applying the skin to a non folding shovel and then changing marks to the folding version. The animation is less janky than you would expect, although not my cup of tea.
Gideon is correct… I was able to equip the item once I changed the mark of the shovel. I feel like a bit of a dumbass for making this post since the solution was so simple.
