This is why I specifically didn’t say “Ogryn or Zealot,” as I have had to do the same with shouty vet before. One lf the reasons I like all vet runs is that dynamic honestly.
You can kind of do it with Psyker, but melee psyker is very glass cannony and you have to hope you in melee and your team behind you can kill them fast enough before you break.
Also it is important to keep things going, although I will say I get frustrated when I try to “lead the way,” and I turn around to everyone milling about shooting poxwalkers 50m back.
Going to bed rn so I can talk about it more tomorrow but right tree psyker can be extremely strong in melee. It’s just that you are a glass cannon, so it’s easy to go down.
Any melee weapon good with crits is great for it, mainly Rashad, Deimos, Dueling Sword, and Knife.
Illisi and Devils Claw get honorary mention for it.
Yeah this is the part that bugs me, hence my desire for a more Unchained tankier melee option, I wanna go ham with my WHC space rapier a.k.a. dueling sword. Gimme!
Why can’t we give survivalist the blazing piety treatment (zealot keystone)
Where you can spec into it and give your team a weaker version by spending more points.
Have the Keystone do what Survivalist (maybe slightly more ammo), and then subnodes that increase the cooldown but increase the ammo amount, and another that share the ammo to the allies but decrease the total ammo
Decent idea but I think however you offer team ammo regen you’re gonna get Vets being flamed for not bringing it. Healthiest thing for the game would probably be Vet only ammo regen as a passive and replace survivalist aura with some kinda gun buff (recoil/spread reduction please we need it somewhere other than just Exe). Probably relatively little work to implement compared to other rework suggestions.
Personally this is what has attracted me to it at the moment. Zealot, Ogryn, and even melee VoC vet are all tanky and safe in melee. Scryer/DD melee psyker isn’t. So there’s a lot less room for mistakes. But the danage iutout that is there is crazy.
I get it’s not for everyone. But it honestly feels like how Martydom on Zealot is supposed to feel.
Nah, you aren’t. I have advocated for this idea since forever, but frankly Fatshark has different ideas, like…Smite, an ability which makes all enemies switch off their “AI” I “love” games in which enemies dont interact with players.
A month ago or so I spent a month just playing variants of these, with few of those talents/blessings differences. Mettle, One With the Warp, Empathic Evasion, Kinetic Deflection are the bread and butter of these “builds”. I tried this with all out crit Deimos, Blazing Spirit, Unstable Power, even Obscurus instead of Deimos. This would also easily work with Shred Devil’s Claws, Combat and Tac Axes, but I like force sword thematically. Lack of cleave damage hurts a lot, thanks to how weapons are designed in Darktide. I tried to fix that with Blazing Spirit, with…mixed results at best. I really didn’t want to abuse Ilisi special for this.
You can definietly make a “melee” psyker work, but for decent results and Peril talent interactions you have to weave ranged with melee and abilities. Psyker played this way is even more squishy, but for me it’s part of the attraction. With ogryn, zealot or even correctly build vet you can afford multiple mistakes in melee. Not so much here. The trick is keeping the peril up, this is why a “perfect” force sword is one with really low warp resistance. Careful with dodges, especially without mods which show your dodge count. Use Kinetic Deflection to get them back if you feel you lost mobility. You can afford to take only one crit based blessing, and pick what you like as second, even more Crit, some soul blaze on crit, deflector, more power etc.
