Yeah, i saw this ignored and kept going because this is simply not true, bruh.
It’s from the mouth of the devs. I see I’m arguing with someone who is living in a lala land.
nah, i stay in my 1980s, best decade there was.
some tiktok zombie wanna jump over my fence i always got spare room in the fridge
I see that you haven’t learned to read, hah
Someone going to a tide game, a series of game that are all about being in melee combat and expecting that the game let you outright avoid it is like going to a Souls game and expecting to be able to avoid the difficult combat mechanics.
You can try, but it won’t be optimal and does not need to be balance as to enable it.
Never have I seen a more apt description of how combat in this game flows. It proves that Fatshark, even if they suck at balancing and timely updates, knows exactly the kind of game they want to make.
I agree, we have far too much ranged weapon use, we need more focus on melee! Look at how some Psyker builds almost SOLELY rely on their ranged weapons!

To be frank, there are ways to play the soulslike Fromsoft games that rely a lot less on difficult combat. Spellcasters and people who use summons especially come to mind, as defense is a lot easier when it’s just “stay away from the bad guy and let someone else take the aggro for you”.
While the Tide games more or less force you to engage in melee combat (which is how it should work, it’s a freakin’ tide game), Fromsoft gives you the option to avoid melee as much as you want - it’s mostly player choice and community stigma that most folk prefer going all-melee.
Goodness gracious, I have followed this thread since its inception and I am just flabbergasted by the OP’s inability to recognise when the crusade has been lost. As you folks can piece together based on that, I as pretty much everyone else including the game’s very description and quotes from the core of the defining source; the developers, believe that this game is not a pure FPS game and the design is aspiring to be a mixed shooter/melee-centric game.
We can all fortunately keep our heart rates low, because his contributions to possible changes in order to “ameliorate” the game will most certainly never see the light of day, thank The Emperor.
Yet i see some actually sane people are gathering in my threads to support my or similar takes, whioch raises the chances on the game to be changed for the good side as we want it.
You can go back to yout makice and spam you highly skilled LMB evaporating everything.
Could you not go back to malice and just only shoot everything? Strange ask you’re making here.
Straight for the personal attacks, just as I have gathered you would do after watching how you “debate” here. Disappointing and predictable. If you choose to create a thread on the forums, you must be able to discuss with others with common decency at least. You lack that. Have a nice day, peace out
The problem is that so far i’ve seens one or two people who came for actual discussions with solid counterpoints to my takes. Others are just… dum-dum bullets.
You aren’t one of them.

I feel like finding a quote from Fatshark themselves about their intent for making hybrid combat is the most QED you could ever be with regards to “this game should let me be ranged only”.
The fact of the matter is that Darktide is not the game you’re going to enjoy if you really, truly, only want to play ranged combat. Every aspect of the game encourages and sometimes forces melee combat, and I see no issue with it.
I think you’ve picked a very stupid hill to die on, OP.
And you failt to realize that even if we just follow dev words then the amout of melee has to be reduced.
Plus i’ve already mentioned why exactly ranged should be an option.
Ranged is AN option. It’s just not your ONLY option.
TBH I find this less applicable on higher difficulties. Melee takes increasing prominence as enemy numbers increase with few exceptions (mostly flame staff psyker or PG vet). Ranged enemies are effectively neutralized very easily. Every so often you get an area suitable for ranged fire (usually an overlook with good sight lines where nothing is spawning) but a lot of the combat is basically locked into melee as a default.
If melee is viable as ONLY option, then why ranged shouldn’t be?
I don’t mean to be snide, but have you thought this through? I’m pretty sure even AI can answer this now.
