Melee and ranged weapon ratio

Not sure if this is still a thing, and if it’s not then ignore what’s probably a hot take, but the fact that sliding gives you such high damage reduction should be removed entirely. Sliding should only benefit you for being faster to get into cover and for making you a smaller target. If people couldn’t slide their way through enemy fire with super damage reduction, rushing into melee under a volley of fire wouldn’t be a smart move and would force that “use cover and supressing fire so your bulkier teammates can get into melee and disrupt them.”

Ogryn and Zealot should be 70/30 or 60/40 melee/ranged, while Veterans and Psykers should be 30/70 or 40/60 melee/ranged. (Arbites is 10/10/80 melee/ranged/dog if I’m to believe the memes)

You said that Psyker is not viable and that you can’t dodge with your gun out, so I have even less faith in your ability than I did going in. If you would like to dedicate a single sentence to tell me your point that would be nice.

I think it’s immunity to ranged rather than DR but yeah. There is little sense in an Ogryn sliding directly into a hail of bullets and dodging them all but… here we are.

On one hand, it does enable some fast-paced gameplay where you’re charging down mobs of gunners. On the other, we lose out on more tactical gameplay. Definitely going to see proponents for both, though I dread to imagine the backlash of doing something drastic like taking toys away.

And let’s not forget spam slide for battery movement – what’s that about lol?

Maybe Havoc seasons would be a good test bed for drastic changes before integrating them into the base modes. Breathe some life into this “live service game” :thinking:

while that’s what i’m here for, to relive my quake days of old, the way it’s overtuned now provides nothing in the means of dopamine/reward feeling.

never was a fan of this overdone sliding, looks like a dog with worms on his ass.

some dash animation (within reason) would have befitted the ogryn especially alot more in my opinion.

likewise, the amount of elite/specials thats been dished out lately is quite irrelevant.

no matter how many gunners open fire at me, i slide under them all and once i’m close it dont matter again cause i’m pummeling all in a great blob of helpless meat.

quake essense was staying quick on your toes to avoid and escape danger
(that was permanent and unwavering)
here you’re quick to negate and undo danger which at the end feels kinda boring since to every scissor there’s a faster rock :man_shrugging:

I wouldn’t really consider it “taking a toy away” unless the player just spams slides to get the bullet damage reduction. It would be a balance change that would make sliding a less overpowered defensive option. It still moves you faster and still makes you a smaller target, but now you don’t take less damage from bullets just because you’re sliding on your butt

Just let the slide consume a dodge, or double stamina. And you can’t slide without stamina.

Why can’t we use our ults while holding a battery like in V2, but we can slide. Makes no sense. I really wish with Ogryn you could bull rush with the battery. And as zealot too, also you drop the battery when you go stealth. Stupid.

It would just be so epic, and making slides cost something as you say would balance it out imo.

In Darktide’s defence, they ignite and explode when you get hit in Vermintide. However, being able to use Ults without dropping them WOULD feel a lot better.

A hybrid between meaty Melee and Classic FPS. Because 40K has never been about running around with rifles

Almost all enemies are copypaste from V2, wich is meele heavy game. So how DT is suppose to have range ONLY class.

Ranged enemies will not be challenging in a fair way untill slide works like it currently does. It’s always will be either whatever or they will gun you down immediately.

Remember early days, when many (or most) people haven’t grasped how silde works exactly yet. Game was more tactial. Some range encounter was more prominent, like a game inside a game.

Slide needs some resource management like dodge, probably just its own slide limit wich is equal to x1,5-x2 of the weapon you hold in hands, or smthg.

Tho if they will touch it there will be a drama, just like it was when they nerfed dodge in V2 (it was a good deccision)

Still, it’s the kind of change that if done right could be transformative. Introduce weight, significance, to combat and you get more tactics (versus spamming what’s effective).

A good recent example imo is allowing gunners to walk around while shooting. Upped their dynamism because you have to do more than simply break line of sight. I noticed the flamers doing it during the recent event, too. A nice way to introduce more “spinning plates” without drastic change. I think it’s a bit goofy looking tbh, but I like what it adds to gameplay.

If sliding costs stamina/dodges, then naturally gunners should be adjusted. Maybe it takes longer for them to spin up, or they track you worse.

Something I’d like to see buffed is casual collateral – suppression I mean. Instead of sprinting into gunner crowds (which is great, always want to do that) and spamming slide until you can hack them apart, let them eat hot lead and become suppressed while you close the gap! Better yet, a combination of both depending on what the situation requires!!

I mean, we had news that there would be nerfs to a couple of weapons that most people agree are way to strong compared to what should be the level of weapons we ought to see, and those nerfs led to people review bombing the game back to mixed.

And those are not even nerfs that went live, just got leaked.

Review bombing terrorism like that should be ignored tbh. Do what you must, game will be better, crybabies will deal with that or leave the game. Real gamers will arrive.

Sometimes ideas will be unpopular in a short term but make game better on a longer distance.

In a perfect world if they are gonna make such drastical change, they should release a funny short video with compilation how characters are dying from gunners, mock that ass riding cause it

And explain it will allow them to not flood maps with gunners. Bring relatable situations and memes.

Those texts they drop in patch notes “uh oh we believe, it should”. Most people don’t read them. They also sound generic corpo speech dude was forced to write after work in overtime. Just use memes and vids, we live in a post tiktok world.

Yes, but sadly devs usually want to avoid being in bad reviews as they depend on sales to do so.

In some weird way, I feel like cutting server in half and having 1 part unbalanced (Current) and another that is treated more toward balanced Auric (Havoc should not be a balance target)

This could just be difficulties, but casual power fantasy enjoyers somehow believe the hardest difficulty (also leaving out Havoc, because F that) in the game should come down to match their skill level.

Have are. The others half - isn’t. In the VT you will get 20 melee mobs and 1 gatling gunner or flamer.
In VT you will get 40 melee enemiers. 30 riflemen, 10 gunners, 5 flamers, 2 snipers and 3 reapers.

It’s a hybrid game. Both only melee and only range shouldn’t be a thing, git gut at both or stay at malice (and wipe there still probably)

Which means that there AT LEAST should be tasks that can be solved only with melee or with only shooting. At the moment melee is answer to everything. If melee is answer to everything - ranged should be too.

And bruh, don’t self-project, lil’ one. Follow your own advise first.
