Hello, I have an idea for the developers to consider. Most of us who do the weekly challenges for Melk have accumulated a large amount of markers that, except in rare cases, are of absolutely no use. Why don’t you add the possibility that we can unlock a perk or blessing on a weapon we already own for a certain amount of markers, for example 5000 or 7000 per weapon. Even just one perk or blessing would decide that we go towards the desired combinations of perks and blessings. I think that the complete crafting system wouldn’t even have to be changed if we had the option to get the desired perks and blessings. In this way, Sir Melk gets a completely new role and finally his weekly missions will become equally important to everyone. It would be great if, say, 1-perk and 1-blessing were unlocked per weapon for 20000 or 30000 markers. But if that’s too much and makes the desired weapon too easy to come by then just one perk or blessing would do wonders for a certain amount of markers. When buying weapons, the lottery system is complex because we can never get the desired modifiers. No one is saying that all modifiers should be 80%, but numbers close to that are all we want. Of course, when we get the desired modifiers, we reach the Shrine of the Omnissiah lottery, where only sometimes we get the desired combination of perks and blessings. It often happens that we have great perks and very bad blessings and vice versa. This would solve a lot of problems to get the desired combination of perks and blessings. Do you agree with this idea and what does the general community think about it?
TLDR-ing this post because OP doesn’t know about paragraphs:
- A lot of players usually have lots of accumulated melkbux because he rarely ever has anything useful in his shop to craft or vendor for blessings.
- Blessing RNG sucks. People already use Melk’s shop to buy any blessings they don’t have, so it seems like a logical step that you could directly unlock a blessing from him for an inflated price.
- Another idea is that Melkbux could be spent to ensure a good crafting base, or to #BreakTheLocks. Either way, it would make them a much more meaningful currency, rather than just a fourth thing to spend on the Money Sink of the Omnissiah’s Slot Machine.
No AI used for this, because I refuse to become another pawn in the capitalist hellscape that is the AI-generation trend.
I see no issues with these approaches, and the prices for buying blessings on weapon classes, breaking locks, or getting good crafting bases could all be tweaked after testing.
Considering how much less obtuse and overall simpler VT2’s crafting is (even if it’s not necessarily easier, since you can’t control which perks/blessing you get when you reroll), I’m not sure why we have to bother with base stats in the first place.
I think Fatshark is pretty solid in their opinion, that blessings shouldn’t be earnable, but obtained randomly.
If that’s the case, perhaps spending Melk Bucks would be better used for getting the exact stat distribution you want on a weapon. Surely, we can ask him for a favor after doing his bullsh*t errands?
Anyway, i imagine something like this is already coming in the soon-to-be-released amazing totally mind-blowing prepare-yourselves crafting rework.
I’ve never been a VT2 player so I don’t know what the crafting system is like there. As for me, I would like a complete change of the crafting system, which is normal, logical, challenging but also accessible. But as you know, dear friend, that won’t happen, and we all know that, because in order for that to happen, the basic code of the game itself needs to be changed (if you understand programming). Then the game shouldn’t run for a while until those things are done. On the other hand, if you add a system by which you can get the desired modifiers, perks and blessings, you have a win win situation. You are absolutely right when you say that we don’t need to deal with the problem of assigning stats to weapons, but that is something that has been imperative from the very beginning. So it is best to find a solution that leads you to want a projection for your favorite weapon, which is the desired perks and blessings. If you have a better idea than me, feel free to write, but be logical and be in line with the current situation and not what you think should have been from the beginning.

The crafting/itemization update is imminent. This will, I assume, come with some sort of change in what Melk coins are used for. Blessing acquisition is interesting and something I would like, however there might be some other way to acquire blessings planned.
All we can really do is wait until either the dev blog, or whenever the update drops (hopefully June 25th).
