After starting to play darktide with the recent free weekend I actually enjoy the game. However I realize something done on maps that was an issue with vermintide maps too. Not as drastic as in darktide truth be told but it exists there.
Maps starts.
Why do we need to walk 30 seconds at the start of the map before getting the first engagement? Sure some downtime to actually face the first enemy is reasonable. But does it need to be so long? Cant we just get like one door or one drop 5 second from the spawnpoint before the first engagement? Sure its nice for storytelling and setting the mood. And that would be fine if we played the maps once or twice. But the tidegames are about replaying the same maps thousands of time. Having to walk 30 seconds after the loading screen before we get the first engagement is a huge waste of time.
That’s actually what is happening in the two operation missions we have (Train and Trenches). It takes us very little time to start fighting enemies. So I guess look to the future operation maps, since they have you start the brawl much quicker than the standard missions.
Yeah this is one of those things you think is a good idea till you get overwhelmed during the starting area for the first time and go “the devs really should fix this” and it ends up back where it started.
