my reaction to seeing this penance for the first time “shooting gallery? sounds cool, guess i’ll do a few carnival missions, see if i can’t do it.” and then when i found what i thought was it, i shot all the blue bottles and destroyed them, only to find out that i didn’t destroy any of the 12, i actually just shot a few random bottles in a garbage pile behind a fence and some boxes. but that got me thinking, WHERE IS THE DAMN SHOOTING RANGE?! so please, for the love of all that is holy (and my sanity), make it so that we can actually tell where the hell the shooting range is. put up a sign, use a trail with a crosshair on it, i don’t care as long as you can tell where the hell the shooting range actually is.
Also if you shoot the brown bottles it disqualified you - so aim your shots well

Wouldn’t be much of an achievement if you didn’t have to think.
To be fair, that disqualifies maybe >95% of the achievements in DarkTide does it not?

Soooooo, just for any poor people out there still struggling with this penance:
How to do it in a short time with minimal stress! Keep an eye on Sedition, you’re waiting for Warren 6-19. As soon as you see it, check the duration. Is it like 5 minutes? Good! Jump on in and load in without waiting for anyone else. Run straight to the shooting range (do not use your Ogryn for this), and first, hop onto the trash can to the right. Pop the blue bottles that are apart from the brown ones from this angle. Then switch to the left side, you should be able to see over the large waste container, otherwise just adjust until you can.
There are maybe 3 blue bottles that were clearly designed as fail bait, where they rest particularly close to a brown bottle. Simply take your time and move left and right to get a clear shot. Theres also one lying on its side on a box, which could be missed.
Finally, as soon as it pops "success’, regardless of if anyone has since joined, you can now safely leave the mission as it does not require a completion to record it.
Oh and just to add. I actually thought this penance sucked. Its boring, finnicky, too easy to “hard fail”, and also easily trolled by other players who figure what you’re doing. Basically: Badly Designed.
