Hello fatshark! everytime i enter in the cosmetic menu is a pain… like i press on the helmet skins, and then for everysingle helmet the game loading i have a little freeze, making the things a lot longer and painful

Same, it also happens when loading the preview from mousing over a cosmetic. Not for player portraits or insignias though.
I think it’s an issue with asset streaming considering how I fixed it. This probably isn’t a Fatshark recommended workaround as this issue only started recently so it should be fixable with an update but disabling the mesh streamer in the game settings file gets rid of the chunky loading and clicking cosmetics shows the high quality model immediately at the cost of the icons loading much slower.
It will also use a few more GB of VRAM and loading screens will be longer because it forces the game to load high quality assets immediately instead of starting with the low quality version and then streaming in the high quality versions so depending on your GPU it might not be the best choice. I have 20GB of VRAM and at 3440x1440 mostly high settings (no RT) this change has the game use between 10-13GB in missions according to me loosely watching task manager so I can’t recommend this if your GPU already approaches it’s VRAM limit.

Thank you for showing the fix! The only thing i can do (when im home) Is try It and id the loadinf screen Will be too long i can go back to the original easily right?

Yea, you can just change it back to false. Remember to save the file though! I’ve only noticed a few extra seconds of loading but my SSD is really fast
hello! i jsut wanted to tell you that this thing worked! just rn i hope it s just a bug but, most of the outfits that i unlocked by penances are again locked, i will try to wait in case i ll do another post here in the forum
Nice! The slow cosmetic loading sucks a bit but I think the hitching being gone and no more waiting for the game to load in higher detailed world assets is a nice trade off. Still, undo the change if you think it causes other issues. There’s a reason they don’t give us an option for it. Save data is handled on their end so if your cosmetics don’t come back you’ll have to wait for one of them to check it out
nono ok i literally fixed the cosmetic disappearing thing rn! i guess it was some mods that was having issues, but i disabled a few (2) and now is all oki! thanks a lot for your help for the lag tho!
just last question, when a next update will come out, do i need to reset the true/false thing or it will be an automatic thing?
I wasn’t sure so I verified the game files through steam just now and it changed it back to false. You won’t have to change it back for updates because it will set it to false for you but if you want it to stay disabled then you’ll have to remember to change it every update. It also reverted my update to the newest FSR 3.1 version so if you swap in upscaler dll files you’ll have to change them again.
