There is a (“temporary”) launcher workaround for Linux, but steam overlay won’t work in it, and so you can’t buy mtx cosmetics from the shop using it. I’m trying to throw my money at you is there any planned support for Linux?
no doubt
I tried this the other day actually on the latest Ubuntu:
- Bypass Launcher with DX12
- Proton Experimental
Steam overlay worked fine, but had an issue with the character movement being stuck in one direction and other wasd keys not registering for moments at a time. Switching to the latest stable Proton instead of experimental fixed it but I then lost the Steam overlay.
The major issue I had was hosting. Clients connecting to me had loads of lag and high ping to the point enemies were teleporting over the place. I think that is just due to the built in Realtek NIC in my motherboard though along with the Linux drivers for it, so I actually ordered a new NIC this morning to see if it improves.
Tried the new NIC and was correct, Realtek was the issue as usual. People have ok ping now.
Wanted to add to this and found that I needed to force Proton 8 to fix a key press issue with newest release of Proton.
