I don’t know how tracking etc. is in Champ
,but it’s prolly different than on Legend/Cata. Also Minotaur is fine, bosses in general are still the same except for the target switching bug.
Tracking seems the same. I QP champion, but solo legend. Is minotaur affected by banners?
Yes
I think he is.
About, still get bs globadiers out of line of sight. Champ enemies though don’t feel as aggressive as legeds. less running attacks and their general number is smaller
Played with Flisker before. I believe him.
So while I recognize that it’s harder, comments like, “you can’t kite 5 slave rats” are way way too extreme, IMO.
I carried a DO finale in the same way as you did last night. I don’t need a recording to know it’s not that bad.
Outing myself as someone who finished all Cata-Maps via quickplay (since my schedule doesn’t allow much for pre-mades these days), I completely agree with @Argonaut14 here. The main complaints I see all the time are:
-Beastmen are too strong in almost any aspect
-The game has become more difficult for players without hundreds of hours
-Most “elite” players I have encountered can handle Cata well, but with a very narrow meta, and most I have talked to don’t find the game particularly fun anymore - a sentiment I wholeheartedly agree with. When I reach a point where I see something happening and know that this will end the round we had zero control over and I just sigh and close the game, this is the point where I realize how dire it is - because it takes a LONG time for me to get frustrated to the point where I just quit, where I don’t feel the urge to try again and do better.
Reason is simple: Most of the time when this stuff happens, you don’t feel like you’ve done anything wrong and you still failed. Pair that with melee simply not being as engaging and fun as it used to be, especially as client, and VT2 lost all of its magic.
The longer I play and the longer I read what is going on on the forums, I get the feeling that we have to simply admit that the way VT2 handled before 2.0, when it was “2 ez” was the best the game could get. Yes, dodging was overtuned, but now we are back to the point where alot of weapons that don’t have good dodging have become very narrowed down in their usefulness, everyone is just stacking attack speed and crits and just rolls with it. Shields have become more useful, but not because of their defensive qualities, but because of their offensive capabilities as push-and-stagger-tools. It just feels forced, like the whole difficulty right now.
Legend QP rate will be dependent on team competency.
Now having completed all maps on Cata (except FoW) I can go in with my premade and steamroll legend. But thats with a highly competent team with preassigned roles. That doesnt mean I can go in on any QP match thats on and push wins, dont find it the case at all.
I have tried some Legend QP and when I run with unknowns, even though I dont have particular difficulty myself with what Im doing, what I find gives me a hard time is how other people play the game. Even legend is harder than it should be, if teammates arent carrying their weight; in particular horde management and positioning. Also choice of weapons and kits will make or break a career, keep in mind the legend players are mostly still learning the basics of playing well.
What is making legend a bit harder is because all the competent players and veterans of the game have moved on to cata, so legend is full of noobish players and a crowd that has just started playing the game recently. The cata crowd and veterans dont play the game for loot, while legend crowd is still after reds.
I mean, seems like a usual game. When I read steamroll I am thinking of speedy run with no deaths.
Nice plays though.
Given the length of time in between full cata groups I sorely doubt this is the case.
Well to be fair, youll find that finding cata QP groups is difficult because the hardcore players play mostly private lobbies with friends, they dont want to run cata with unknown players
I’ll remind you that on launch without a busted dodge and more busted bugs like silent point blank patrols, Legend had a clear rate about this low and it could still be frequently QP’d into.
Without actual numbers I simply can’t find myself believing that many people are playing it all that much and just unanimously also have full groups of 4 who all bought the DLC that sits at a 33% approval rating.
We can say some good players moved on. But all? I’m not so sure about that.
I don’t usually have much problems filling up cata lobby on EU. Yeah, it highly depends on the time of day and is certainly slower than legend but I didn’t yet happen on some massive drought of players.
It’s true though that I usually host into duo queue, so I don’t have much experience with solo queuing cata.
Well this is a massive player base problem as well, exacerbated by the many different game modes available now. Between weaves, legend and cata with such a miniscule player base, Fatshark has divided the interest of the dedicated players very thin.
I hear you and I agree with your points, but it all starts as well with a very small playerbase.
Keep in mind that:
- it’s holiday time. Many of the veteran players are not present.
- After WoM no warning alert us that talents are all changed. I used the default setup in the first 1-2 runs before realize it.
- During WoM release time, Steam offered V2 at discounted price. This means many new players learning how to play. Usually during these promotions, it is not rare to have noob/unskilled teammates.
- Beastmen are still in need to be tuned up.
- …
I can only add my own data to this.
Pre 2.0: Appx. 90% win ratio (Anecdotal estimate over many, many games)
Post 2.0: 10% win ratio (2/20 solo QPs before I gave up)
Either that or stopped playing all-together. ![]()
This responses to this thread have been really interesting. I’ve gotten the sense that I am not alone in having a disturbingly difficult WoM QP Legend experience.
It seems that the main factors that people think are causing this are:
- Bugs bug and more bugs
- Beastmen - This resonates a bit, I had some hosts with no WoM and the games were easy.
- Vets moved to Cata or Weaves
- Too many Talent Changes at once.
I can tell you that if I needed Reds, I would inactivate WoM via steam. That much is clear to me. WoM, currently, is for advanced players only, and it imposes this even on Legend which is a huge take away from any non-expert players that bought the content. My feeling is that in the current state WoM can only drive a large portion of the player base away.
This is absolutely tragic. Fatshark, what can we do to help?
Even with properly configured bots I find them too stupid to tolerate/be enjoyable, all the old issues of them standing in gas reviving each other, falling off cliffs, randomly chasing one special while a ratling plasters them from the flank and ignoring packmasters/gutter runners/leeches remain.
Human players can at least learn.
Cata is definitely a struggle and painful very often due to bad rng so this is true; quite a few players from my friends list have just simply stopped playing the game, and cannot be bothered with grinding cata. The changed mechanics, bugs and overall increase in difficulty has pushed away quite a few gamers.
Theres only so much frustration some people can take when halfway through a run the murderous AI director throws a beastmen horde at you, in a tight corridor, decides its a good idea to assault the party from both ends, throws in a banner guy and a Minotaur with a stormer off the map behind a wall. Theres no skill that can save you in this scenario. We just keep grinding cata so often until we get a set of scenarios that is not instant death, its possible. Albeit this grinding is very painful. Vermintide has no qualms with trolling players for hours and hours on end with wipe situations.
We had some difficulty with cata skittergate, for example. And for whatever reason, during the whole endgame on a run, we were getting nonstop full hordes and specials attacking us on top of standard adds. Im talking during the fight with rasknitt. I dont believe specials should spawn during that fight. I got killed by an assassin which should not have happened.
We didnt win that run, but theres wonky stuff going on that can kill runs. Actually Oenkrad and FilthyBritches were on the team that run, and they can confirm as well that we got some weird spawns of specials harassing us which we never seen before on cata skittergate.
A session later the same night, I ran skittergate with Royale with Cheese another veteran player, and we cleared cata skitter. And this time just regular adds of monks+rats+sv, no uninvited specials so we finished the run.
