Recently Darktide’s launcher failed to appear after pressing the “play” button on steam. Worked fine previously yesterday. Works for the first launch of the computer reset (sometimes and only when files have been validated), but does not launch on subsequent launches. Mods do not appear to have an impact as disabling them has not helped to stop or aid in launching Darktide.
The step that did resolve this is deleting the GPU detection dll, but I am still curious to a potential cause as this has not occurred before and concerns me.
Linked is the console log from the failed and successful attempts. Both with mods enabled. Previously I had attempted to disable them, but still both failed and succeeded in starting the launcher.
If there is anything obvious that can be parsed from this information/logs about why the gpu detection was the workaround or what the potential acutal error is it would be much appreciated.

Sorry to hear this @Slick, though I’m glad that deleting gpu_detection.dll helped!
Sometimes the launcher can encounter issues detecting certain types of hardware - in the past this was common for 1600series NVIDIA GPUs, though I can see you have a 3070.
Hm, has anything changed on your system recently? Any NVIDIA driver updates? Windows updates?

Following-up to add more information per your comment. I have not updated GPU drivers since April 28th 2026 with the attached screenshot being the most recent version. Unfortunately it does not explain why there would be a difference between the two days in whether the launcher functions or not.
For windows updates. I am currently and have been on windows 10 with no apparent update recently that would indicate a loss in function. The only system setting that might have caused some issues is a recently is disabling the microsoft account sign-in assistant in services due to a issue with the event viewer (also in screenshot). The event issue being 1010 ModernDeployment-Diagnostics-Provider repeatedly firing over the past few days.
If there is no apparent issue and if the deletion of the gpu_detection.dll is a functional workaround that will not cause substantial issues down the line outside of just deleting it again on updates then I will just continue with that for now.
