I am currently running Windows 10 BUT I am running the AtlasOS installation: some services that are normally expected to run may not be running.
Drivers are all up to date as far as i can tell
Antivirus is not running
Verifying the game data via steam doesn’t resolve the issue
Deleting the launcher folder in the game folder and downloading that new doesn’t resolve the issue
The launcher worked fine on the same OS and PC before the Necromancer patch
Clicking launch game in the one to three seconds DOES launch the game successfully and it runs as good as usual
Restarting steam or the PC doesn’t resolve the problem (eh didn’t expect it to, but you know turning it on and off again…)

I know this is a niche problem and it doesn’t keep me from playing the game, just from selecting my mods. I do not expect a quick answer to this.
I would appreciate a suggestion what to do here, because I have run out of ideas what to try.

Cheers for the support team

Hi @TrueOGer

I recommend trying our launcher solutions here:

Please let me know how this goes!

Hi,
Thanks for the answer, here is my update:

Verify Integrity of Game Files

as stated above, no change

.NET Framework

Not able to install because of newer version
Repairtool runs fine but:
no change in launcher behavior

4k Resolution Workaround

N/A I run in 1080p and have no problem seeing the launcher

Launcher Workaround

Downloading the temporary launcher workaround beta
launching with the launcher option shows same behavior
bypassing the launcher does not solve the issue, i need the launcher to stay open to select mods and change realm

Downloading the beta_launcher
working on it, but it states to resolve issues with “sanctioned mods not loading”, which load fine for me.
this will take me a while because it wants to download and update a 57gb with my 3G connection that gives me 12.4 Mbps so approx. 12h+ of not using my connection or having the computer run.
I might do this over the next few days, but while i wait for this to finish i cannot do anything else or play the game.

If you have any other suggestions in the meantime that i could try, i would appreciate it.

short update:
update from today (26.oct 184mb) didn’t change launcher behavior

cheers for the support team <3

@TrueOGer, one of our developers has put a new launcher fix live on the beta_launcher that you were updating to. The launcher should hopefully work with this fix, but mods might not be setup correctly. Can you please try this and provide us with your console log and launcher log?

Was this your doing? That is awesome support!

Launcher behavior has not changed with updating to beta_launcher
console_logs is still empty
this is the launcher log in with everything i tried in the meantime
vermintide2_launcher.log (54.7 KB)

i deleted the old launcher log file and started the beta_launcher version again. this might be easier to read for you.
vermintide2_launcher.log (17.9 KB)

thanks for the effort you put into this

In the meantime I tried the following:
Adding separate exceptions for the launcher anti cheat and crash report tool in the windows firewall:
no change

Deleting the user settings config:
Launcher finds hardware and tells me about it like it should before closing again

Reinstalled my graphics driver for unrelated reasons.
no change

Tried the render openGL option from windows, because why not.
no change

I just thought of this while writing my answer:
Tried running it in windows 7 compatibility mode. Still in beta_launcher mode.
The launcher now looks like this:
https://i.imgur.com/0NqJpYS.png
and stays open
fresh launcher log while running win7 mode:
vermintide2_launcher.log (17.9 KB)

As you can see it does not load the banner or video but hovering over the positions gives me the change of the mouse pointer telling me there is something clickable. Left click in the area where the video should be still follows the link.

I have absolutely no idea why this works, but i will take this as a win.
If you want to you can consider this topic closed. I have a workaround now.
However I will keep an eye on this and if you want me to test or try anything please feel free to ask, I would like to assist as best as i can.

EDIT: update:
tested the launcher with the regular game version with the win7 mode.
Launcher works fine

Glad to hear you have a workaround for now

I have passed all of this information on to our developers, and I’ll be in touch if they have any further input or suggestions.
