TLDR:
Price hike scumbaggery, no Krieg set for me, angry noises.
I bought the Imperial edition when it first came out and got enough aquilas to buy one set, i have been sitting on this currency since the launch of the game waiting for a Krieg set to eventually be released.
Lo and behold, the set is release but not only is the Krieg set rather mid, they increased the price.
Now i dont know what the heck is going on with FS, but this just seems like another attempt to nickle and dime people, and to squeeze out a little more revenue from people who might be like me and were holding off on using aquilas waiting for the Krieg set.
I bought that dumb Imperial edition in a show of support for FS based on the state of VT2, naively hoping that what was learned from VT2 would be implemented into DT at launch, and i am not gonna lie, i reaaaally regret spending that extra money and i refuse to give a single cent more to a company i have literally zero faith in.
Welcome to the club. I’ve been pretty unhappy and steadily losing faith in FS for the same reasons since launch but all this stuff with the Krieg set price gouging and the Xbox Aquila blunder was the last straw. Unless FS pulls some kind of massive redemption arc I’m never buying one of their games again.
People like to blame Tencent for everything but the Krieg Premium is 100% a Games Workship trademark…seriously, they even have the same argument for them being more expensive. You pay more for the knock off Steel Legion.
The Krieg set has a lot of re-used assets. Some of the sets are cool, some are…really bad.
The Veteran cosmetic is not a Death Korps infantry trooper, it’s someone’s faithful recreation of their pal’s comic-con Krieg cosplay made from mis-matched bits of random army surplus stuff, including mis-sized coats, massively oversized gear, incorrect web gear, surplus mask that doesn’t actually match the Krieg gasmask, etc.
The fact that the webbing lays so awkwardly and weirdly, and that so much of the kit clips entirely through arms and weapons and the neck, was too much, and I asked for my Aquilas back on that one, it just looked awful.
If that actually took someone extended development time, the only explanation I can think of is that Fatshark handed it to the most junior and inexperienced artist they had and gave them no direct Forgeworld reference material. To charge a premium for that, particularly when they managed to nail these issues on other sets, was ridiculous. The Veteran cosmetic should never have gotten out of QC.
Unfortunately enough people are still gonna spend money on the game to a point where FS feels its worth alienating parts of their community for quick revenue.
