I’m here to address that Darktide Korean localisation needs fixes.
It have had flaws in early time, but the problem have gotten bigger. I think Fatshark is using AI translater without any experts’ help - or using Chinese-Korean translator(aka charlatan translator).
Not sure Fatshark would fix these but I do hope they would someday.
If Fatshark is going to change these, they need to make sure that all related terms should be changed and unified as well, such as cryo rod as an item name and those terms in dialogue scripts.
The actual script data would be much helpful, especially in dialogue scripts but…
Well… there are what I got while I play games.
- UI/Talent’s description
- 돕기 → 도움말
- In Mastery tab, after choosing a weapon type, right bottom side key-guidance
- wrong translation : 돕기 is a verb and not suitable for this
- 파워 /힘 → need to be unified
- Some description about Power is translated as 힘 or transliterated as 파워
- Need to unify the term as 파워/힘
- 일제사격 → need to be separated
- Veteran’s skill Volley shot and bless option Salvo both are translated as 일제사격.
- It gives confusion in description of bless, and also penance which needs Volley Shot skill.
- 침투 사용 시 은신 모드가 끝납니다 → 침투 사용 시 은신 상태에서 벗어난 후 적용됩니다.
- Veteran’s Closs Quarters Killzone talent desc.
- Current description is saying “When using Infiltration, it ends Stealth” which is totally wrong.
- Suggested fix sentence is refered from the talent Marksman.
- 원거리 처치 시 원거리 전문가를 획득합니다. → 원거리 처치 시 근거리 전문가를 획득합니다.
- Veteran’s Weapons Specialist desc.
- Current description is saying “Gain Ranged Specialist on Ranged kill” which is wrong.
- 파괴 충전 → 브리칭 차지/파쇄 폭탄
- The UI guidance of Breach Charge when you get close to the wall needed to be demolished.
- Breach Charge is a proper noun but directly translated (Breach-파괴, Charge-충전) which makes no sense
- 브리칭 차지 is transliteration and 파쇄 폭탄 means demolishing bomb. You can use either of one.
- 메디팩 집어 → 메디팩 설치했다
- A script when you set Medipack activated.
- 메디팩 집어 means “Pick up Meipack” which is not good since it doesn’t match how it works in game.
- 열 환기 → 방열
- Plasma gun or other guns using Vent Heat as reload.
- 열 환기 is like a terms used in sentence, not those alone as a independant term.
- 버팀대 → 그립 사격/충전 사격
- Terms guidance for right click action on guns. (Secondary attack), also in Check gun section.
- I’m not sure why they are translated as 버팀대. I think they wanted to say “그립 사격” which is holding a grip tight and shoot.
- Seems like “Secondary Action” is translated as 버팀대 so those are needed to be translated as 그립 사격
- And Charged Attack(from Plasma or possibly other guns) is also translated as 버팀대, which is wrong. It should be 충전 사격
- 정조준 → 충전 사격
- Term guidance for right click action on guns (for Hellvore Lasgun and possibly other guns) also in Check gun section.
- It should be “충전 사격” as well, but it is translated as 정조준 which means Aim Down Sights
- 막기 → 차단
- Term Block in Social tab in game.
- 막기 and 차단 both means Block but in this social block, 차단 is appropriate since 막기 is just for… “Block with shield” kinda thing.
- 살덩이 구현 정화 → 발현된 살덩이 정화
- One of last mission objective in Hab Draco, “Flesh Manifestation Purge”
- 살덩이 구현 정화 is just directly translated each words of Flesh Manifestation Purge, occuring confusion of meaning.
- I think there would be better translation, but so far, I suggest 발현된 살덩이 정화.
- 정찰 요원 → 요원 정보 확인/요원 정찰하기/
- In Hub, when you are close to other operator, Key guidance with F is on. Not sure what it says in English.
- Currently it says 정찰 요원, which directly means Scout Operator but this isn’t used well in this nuiance.
- 요원 정보 확인 means Check Operator’s Information.
- If you insist to use ‘정찰’, at least you can use ‘요원 정찰하기’ for better grammar, although it sounds wrong and awkward…
- This Blessing is already applied. → 이미 적용된 축복입니다.
- Re-blessing tab, when choose blessing which is already applied
- It is not translated yet.
- Weapon/Item/Enemy tags/names
- 소드/검/블레이드 → need to be unified
- Swords and Blades are translated as 검 or transliterated as 소드/블레이드
- Need to unify the term as 소드 or 검 // 블레이드 or 검
- 레이저건 → 라스건
- Lasgun has been translated as 라스건 in other Warhammer 40k content. 레이저건 is just Laser gun, not a proper noun
- 스페셜리스트/전문가 → need to be unified
- Specialist is translated as 전문가 or transliterated as 스페셜리스트
- 레이거 → 레이저
- Rager is pronounced as /ˈreɪʒər/(레이저) but it is translated as /ˈreɪɡə/(레이거)
- 냉각 로드 → 냉각봉
- In one of metal fap mission which uses cryo rods at the end(I believe it’s HL-17-36 Power Matrix)
- Cryo is translated as 냉각 and rod is transliterated as 로드. But this word isn’t used at all.
- 냉각봉 is perfectly appropriate word for this.
- 파워 몰 → 파워 마울
- Melee weapon - Power Maul
- Maul is never been transliterated as 몰, but as 마울
- Even Mauler the enemy is correctly translierated as 마울러
- Penances
- 공격 팀 → 화력 팀
- Sweep and Clear’s desc
- Veteran’s talent Fire Team is translated as 화력 팀
- 다운 없이 악의 위협 수준 이상의 미션 x개 완료. → 다운 없이 악의 위협 수준 이상의 미션 연속으로 x개 완료. (x is number of missions needed in penances 1, 2, 3)
- Flawless Executions’ desc (1, 2, 3)
- It doesn’t say anything about “in a row” condition
- 폭스 하운드를 공중에 띄웁니다 → 폭스 하운드가 공중에 있을때 밀어냅니다
- Get off me!'s desc
- It means kinda like “make Pox hounds fly.” So it sounds like I should make them fly with granade or upper-cut punch - which is obviously wrong.
- 예지자의 시선 효과가 발동된 적 40명을 처치하세요 → 예지자의 시선 효과가 발동중일 때 적 40명을 처치하세요.
- Perilous Focus’s desc
- Current one means “kill 40 enemies who caused Scrier’s Gaze”, totally wrong.
- Dialogues
- For these, the original text might be wrong since I caught those mistranslations while I shoot and run. Also, it’s hard to catch who said it, when say it.
- 회사 → 일행/동행/팀
- Company is translated as coporation while it should mean team
- 불 수류탄 → 화염 수류탄
- Fire Granade!
- 불 수류탄 is not used as term, 화염 수류탄 is more appropriate.
