The chip damage through toughness mechanic needs to die, just make it work like a shield in halo or armour in payday. It’d result in less bugs as well.

Thanks actually. Really. But still. Bug is a bug because I don’t think they implemented feature that turns damage through toughness ON if you have such Curios.
Steps to reproduce:
- Get hit by pox walker at 100% toughness
- Take massive health damage
Tested with Zealot and Ogryn, with modified and unmodified toughness from curios
Can confirm as well. Getting hit at 100% toughness still sends chip damage through to HP.
Unfortunately they intended this based on my reading of the update notes.
I don’t think you realize what he is saying. certain enemies are not doing toughness damage at all they’re going straight through to HP damage.
I was full toughness 224 and 100 hp on vet took 1 sniper round and immediately went down with toughness remaining. ragers were doing 14 hp and 2 toughness damage. something got switched and the damage’s are being applied in reverse.
Toughness does indeed seem to be bugged. Hope they can hotfix this ASAP.
Okay, this is weird. I saw the chip damage going through on 100% Toughness on Veteran on Excise Vault on Difficulty 2. However, when I tried my Ogryn on Chasm Logistratum on Difficulty 1, at 100% toughness no damage went through.
Is this an issue for all classes? I only see this happen to veterans so far
The behaviour is inconsistent, it seems to not happen 100% of the time. Still a serious issue that makes the game a lot less playable.
If you have +toughness curios, you will take chip damage from melee

It’s not just curios, if you have a toughness above 100 at all it goes through, so Veteran gets hit period.
From what my friend surmised while playing his Vet, it would appear that you only take no hp damage when you are at exactly 100 toughness (assuming this even works), and then you take more damage the further toughness is away from being at 100… BOTH WAYS. So at zero and 200 toughness you take 100% damage, afaik. I wonder if you take extra damage at 200+.

Made an account just to confirm this is also happening to me. This needs a hotfix A S A P, as it turns malice into heresy, heresy into damnation and damnation into impossible.
How this managed to get rolled out on the day of release without any testing, who knows. This is going to make the game way harder in reality than it’s supposed to be, though until fixed.
I can confirm the bug, its exactly as bad as it sounds, and its even worse at 300 toughness for Veterans stacking toughness trinkets. Hits feel like pure bleed through until you drop down to 100 toughness, then its 0% bleedthrough and scales as normal. But if you stay in coherency/perform melee kills and keep at 200% toughness, you take 100% bleedthrough. If you wear a trinket and get up to 225 etc, at least you only take 75% bleedthrough.
edit: Its on the “known issues” for the patch notes for the live edition… words fail me.
Dude I agree with you totally. There is absolutely no way this was tested in live. It’s so incredibly broken, I’ve seen scabs chip damage almost 10 damage on 3rd difficulty. In beta it was 3 dmg max. If this is how they intended the game to be played, I don’t want to play. Getting attacked 4-5 times by guys sneaking up behind you means you’re dead, which means you basically have to play NEVER getting hit, which is not reasonable.
This bug should only happen if you have a curio with some extra toughness ٪ on it.
No, it happens to ANYONE with over 100 toughness stat regardless if it’s base stats or used curios. They’ve confirmed it in the patch notes for release which I find mind boggling. They knew one of the most basic and core concepts of the gameplay was broken after they attempted change to it… and rolled it out anyway???
