We’re currently in contact with NVIDIA after noticing a spike in crash reports from players who have installed the latest driver (576.40).
The error produced when this occurs will look similar to:
[Engine Error]: HRESULT: 0x887a0005 = DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED: GetDeviceRemovedReason() = DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG
For now, the recommended solution is to roll back to a previous stable driver version.
If you’re experiencing issues, we encourage you to share your experience directly with NVIDIA: GeForce GRD 576.40 Feedback Thread (Released 5/12/25)
Issue Type (Required):
Crash - During Play
Issue Description (Required):
Ever since I installed the Nvidia Game Ready Driver 576.40 last night in preparation for DOOM Dark Ages, I cannot play this game with or without mods installed, it is guaranteed to crash during gameplay at random times. (I’ve tested other games like Helldivers 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds, and now DOOM Dark Ages, and I have had zero crash-related issues after playing for at least 1 hour each) While Darktide, I cannot prevent the game from crashing within 5 minutes or less of playing ever since installing the driver.
Edit: And yes I verified the game via launcher and then steam and then via launcher again it says it’s good to go and I even tried disabling ‘Portrait Rendering’ I will attempt to underclock/undervolt my GPU now… (The GPU is an RTX 5080 MSI Gaming Trio)
Edit2: Underclocking/Undervolting does not fix the issue, and I feel as if it’s the new Nvidia Driver overall that is the problem, as the game functioned without a single issue before its installation.

Some people do seem to be experiencing issues with the latest drivers. Here is a known issue from NVIDIA that may be of interest to you:
Issue: If you are playing on a GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU and enable G-sync (supported display required) or V-SYNC plus DLSS Multi Frame Generation through the NVIDIA App you can crash the game.
Resolution: Until there is a driver fix available, the workaround for this issue is to either disable one of these options in the NVIDIA App or if you want both enabled, set them in-game.
You may wish to share your experience with the latest drivers here: GeForce GRD 576.40 Feedback Thread (Released 5/12/25)
is anyone getting their pc reboot randomly after closing darktide by any chance?
And I am not using Frame Generation in Darktide therefore I cannot see how that issue would apply to me.
Edit: And I commented on that thread mentioning the CTD problem and how it started after installing the new driver… (But I fear I will simply have to roll back to my previous driver if I wish to play Darktide, but I guess this is a good time for a break, as any to play the new Helldivers 2 update and continue DOOM: The Dark Ages)

AND my pc reboot after 60 seconds i’ve crashed/exited the game

turning this off worked for me, i’ve played a full game and i didn’t crash
(i’ve only dc but thats a server problem that everyone is having)
I see… I will attempt turning off DLSS and see how it goes, and will add an edit of if this works or not for me.
Edit: Turning off DLSS Super Resolution did not solve the problem for me, my game still crashes due to the same issue as I originally described above.
Yep. I got the same issue when upgrading to the 576.40 Nvidia drivers. I did all the recommended things in the fatshark recommended link to resolve GPU issues and no good. I don’t use mods or anything similar, and none of the known issues for the new driver version matched my circumstances. Game was unplayable (would crash out after a few mins generally).
In the end, I used DDU to remove the new Nvidia drivers, and then re-installed the previous version (576.28) of drivers which I manually downloaded from the nvidia website.
Everything now stable again.

FYI, I’ve reached out to NVIDIA concerning this issue. I still recommend that you share any issues with the latest drivers here, to help bring attention to it: GeForce GRD 576.40 Feedback Thread (Released 5/12/25)
so apparently after reading the comments people are crashing from every game, the issue should be major enough to have them fix it for us in a short amount of time

I tried pretty much all the things, the only real solution is to uninstall the latest game ready Nvidia driver and manually install the older one from the Nvidia website if you are unable to use the rollback driver feature.
Hi Dapple, I’ve shared this in another comment, but I’ll repost it here as it may be of interest to you:

Thanks ya I saw that post but since I’m on a 40 series and DLSS multi frame generation is not supported uninstalling their latest driver and reinstalling the last one was the only thing that worked for me.
