Its such fake difficulty lowering hp and toghness

That’s like saying something like Borderlands isn’t balanced around health gating. There’s literally enemies that are designed specifically around breaking/ignoring the toughness gating. This is a huge part of the threat of shotgunners/snipers.

How on earth you could think it isn’t balanced or designed around it is beyond me.

Darktide is very much a marathon at higher levels if we’re going the route of race comparisons. You get little to no downtime.

Beyond that, the point is about the fact that it’s just increasingly become raw damage numbers and killing things ASAP as things like CC have been disincentivized. The only exceptions are the unholy trio of trivializing content, namely chorus, VoC, and bubble.

Choosing to twist it into “All combat is a DPS race” is about as useful as saying “To win, don’t lose.”

And the difference between meta in Darktide and a more balanced meta is that meta in Darktide is more like operating at 200% versus 100%. That is a problem. Trying to then balance that with negative Havoc modifiers is a huge band aid that fixes nothing and just amplifies the problem.

This (once again) goes beyond just breakpoints and damage numbers. Things like VoC are not raw damage increases but are very noticeably more effective versus the alternatives.

This is either a massive troll or you genuinely don’t realize how poorly even that paragraph can come across in a conversation like this.

i mean borderlands isn’t balanced around health gating, because the game balance in borderlands is a joke.

Characters like Krieg literally rely on the health gating existing for builds in it to function.

I can’t speak to BL3 because I have no interest in it overall.

Just gonna leave this here

Here’s an AI response for you:

“Whether or not the response was AI-generated doesn’t change its content or the points it raises. Dismissing it based on its source rather than engaging with the ideas seems like avoiding the discussion. If there’s something specific in what I said that you disagree with or feel is worth addressing, I’d be happy to hear your thoughts. Let’s focus on the substance of the conversation”

I totally agree with you! Focusing on the content and the ideas presented is what really matters in a discussion. It’s easy to get caught up in the source of information, but that shouldn’t overshadow the points being made. If there are specific arguments or ideas that you think are flawed or need more exploration, let’s dive into those! Engaging with the substance is where the real conversation happens, and I’m all for it. What specific points do you think are worth discussing further?

yea seems so
wish that havoc difficulty pressure was the actual auric board lol…
if people don’t like, the normal board for more chill gameplay.

but not sure if people like difficulty based on coordination, teamplay and enemies having more health etc. but havoc it is fun at least when it comes to difficulty, another way to play the game, which is very similar of VT2/VT1, the one of staying near to teammates, possibly always.

i feel like the general power creep in darktide in auric board, if we are powerful, they should make the game way harder. or alternatively nerfing players and keeping how stuff work in general.

havoc is just meant to be an extreme challenge in the end, but i wish there was something similar in auric board too of some sort. cause now maelstorms auric are just easy

Everyone else is wrong except me

Nerf everything

Who told you where is the proof. Keep in mind many weapons were buffed since then/at same time. So the old breakpoints may no longer apply.

Typically people are locked to a combination of 3 and 4s, not all 3s.

Also there are modifiers that make enemies tougher(or weaker, sometimes; in case of tentacled crushers) at difficulties where breakpoints might matter.

I’m glad we agree—focusing on substance over distractions makes for much better conversations, and I’m excited we can move forward constructively. Personally, I’ve found tools like LLMs helpful for organizing my thoughts, making my ideas flow better, and filtering out unnecessary emotions, which can be hard to do on my own. They’re also great for analyzing tone and improving how I engage with others.

That said, I feel my points have been well-made, and there’s no need for further discussion on my end. Thanks for engaging thoughtfully.

Truly! It’s been refreshing!

If break points aren’t an issue, then META shouldn’t exist. A breakpoint, in the context of reaching maximum damage potential falls within the META description.

It was a genuine question, but it feels like no approach works when speaking with you. I aim for a respectful, communicative tone, yet I’m left wondering if the only alternatives are snide remarks, backhanded comments, or pettiness - which I’m actively avoiding. So, I have to ask: could the perception of hostility stem from the simple fact that we disagree?

The trouble is the inconsistency. Basically getting the exploding corrupted enemies modifier at the same time as the toughness nerf modifier makes the mission as hard as havoc can be, at pretty much any level after 20.

The luck of the modifiers affects difficulty way more than the levels.

i mostly had that modifier but with beacon of purity does hard counter it a lot.
sometimes it depends also by the map and the dynamic spawns etc.

but sometimes i had also way more challenge without the corrupted enemies modifier still :smiling_imp:
and yea havoc i think starts to be difficult from 25 and higher becoming hard, but even more later.

but it is also undeniably that major of the success is also given due to the teamplay and coordination and skill of the team to be honest.
some % in luck sure, or to be in theme, faith. :smiling_imp:

Made me chuckle irl. Great find.

The irony of this after the whole shenanigans with engaging with the substance. (As you ignore everything else I said)

If you’re actually trying to say this sort of stuff without being passive aggressive, you do not get how tone comes across via text/online.

The fact you can loose and that leaving has a penalty forces this.
This is the only point I like…

I don’t like the ammo modifier, the conditions also or the fact that you have to wait too much just to launch a game, the fact that someone that leaves means carrying a bot, or also the artificially raised difficulty.
By example, the bullet resistance is really bad to play a veteran. The ammo penalty is totally bad. Such modifiers are killing a lot of gameplays. Something I do not like.

i played with my friends, which is how the game mode is intended imo (people can also disagree which is fine) so i didn’t have this problem.

it’s good

i didn’t understand, but veteran can be essential even at higher havoc ranks really.

no problem, there is still standard board, or auric board. no need to push yourself to the extreme. you didn’t pay the content, it was free, so you are not missing anything
