Its been so long and trappers are still an issue (Balance/QoL change please)

It still took them years to get berserkers distinct, hearable sounds (but frothers and normal raiders are still too similar) and character voice callouts.

Beat me with experience then, you win.

Trappers always grab from the same distance, I don’t see what’s the issue other than a players ability to time up a dodge/stun. Must I reminder you there are several sound cues, which the crutch of “sound issues” is valid but still an excuse when being able to look around with awareness can suffice.

My solutions wouldn’t make them similar to a dog, which would begs to ask what’s the point if its the same just have more dogs? Having the trapper net from above (like smoker from l4d) would set it apart. I agreed trappers could knock over what it shoots through, allowing a nice timing window to run up to them and melee.

The trapper should be more punishing IMO. Continue to pull the player like the hook rat, toss em over the edge increasing the revive time by x4. If I’m going to bend to the core issue, to me, its the damage a player will take once grabbed, losing their shield when grabbed and teammates not responding in time if captured. Lower this “punishment” could be a fine middle ground for me, but I would suggest to FS to not balance the game for players who cant keep up, balance should always be top down, which to be fair, FS hasnt figured out by releasing Havoc.

The trapper net is so unbelievable easy to rip off a teammate and save someone that skilled players with a sense of urgency can get them up the moment they hit the ground from a net pull. This topic is a non-issue.

Not really true either, bombers will still nail you from out of vision

Again this argument boils down to “I can deal with a mostly flawed and frustrating mechanic therefore It is not an issue for me which in turn is not an issue for other people”

This is your opinion and I kinda agree with players getting punished harder for getting trapped, but once again they SHOULD JUST FUNCTIONALLY BE UNABLE TO SHOOT THROUGH OGRYN/MONSTORUS ENEMIES.

This is just untrue, You can get pointblank trapped from around a corner which you should hear the audio. Other times ive seen a trapper run into a carapace wall running towards me locked on to someone else and then just swap targets to me because the original player either got too far or got incapacitated or stunned or something, I can’t slide dodge or dodge far enough in said situation and then its a different range in that situation. GRANTED it doesn’t happen often but when it does it’s like “damn aight guess ill go f*ck myself”

I cannot understand why I should be punished for trying to get stuck in and potentially holding a horde or a group when I know one of the specials can pull its BS uno reverse card and just yoink me in some situations. It actually hurts specifically the melee gameplay experience knowing this, When im in the face of like 4 crushers and im dodging all their overheads while smacking their heads why should I get trapped through them and not around them? It just takes away the fun of being up in the danger just to get cheese by a mechanic that doesn’t follow the rules.

true, but I was mainly talking about Gunners/Shotgunners. Netgunners are like pseudo shotgunners is kinda the point I was trying to make.

I never said that. You’re going in circles.

same max* distance. Also, I thought others were saying they want them to be point blank like a hook rat. Additionally, if its point blank then how can an Ogryn/Monstrosity be in the way?

Skill issue. The core problem you are frustrated with is your stubborness to adapt to the horde. Just because you are “stuck in” doesn’t mean you can’t push and fall back to shoot a trapper. Chaff is just busy work and should never be your top priority. Again I would look at your priorities when a trapper comes to play UNO with you.

It kinda sounds like you just want trappers to be neutered like dogs and muties who are barely a shadow of their former selvers, yeah they had a lot of jank and it was good that they got fixed, but right now they are very, very low threat to a 4 player team.

Blatant Ogryn issues aside, some of it smells like legit skill issue and wanting the game to be dumbed down and diluted.
If there’s a trapper on the field, it’s your job to be alert and adjust to the situation till she’s dealt with. If this means repositioning, staggering, maybe trading a hit to deal with her or have team deal with here then so be it.

Right now it sounds like you just want to button mash and go along your merry way. She’s a threat and should be treated as such.

Your solution also gives you another easier way to counter her which is just not needed.
I hate to say it, but skill issue.

same argument:

Nah, I just want to use ogryn enemies to LOS a trapper.

I dislike how the trappers exception to make her a threat takes away from the melee combat.

It’s my feedback and I hear your opinion.

Matter over, unless you want to add more to what they could to to change her?

many perceive trappers as being unfair because the phases through enemies, and if it hits your toe sticking out of cover, you’re trapped and can’t get out without help, even with the most maxed out ogryn.

making the net hitmass dependant should change that, so it knocks ligher enemies out of its way just like dogs and muties do, but gets blocked by ogryns and monstrosities. it’s not fun when you’re fighting a plague ogryn who is over your whole screen so you can’t see the net coming, but it goes through him and catches you just fine.

and please let our ogryn trample over zombies that are knocked down when dodging.

just i case anyone wonders why i’d like to have fatalities against trappers first and foremost.

2 different issues at play; toe sticking out and getting jank trapped would still happen on a clear field, and again, as you mentioned, ogryn issues.

Dogs and muties are also far more agile and mobile (and beefier), but also trivial to counter after their many fixes (less trivial for ogryn dodges).

I’m 100% on board for fixing janky ogryn dodges and stuff.
