It seems that Iron Breaker : Crushing Counter-Blow talent has bug

In-game description of Crushing Counter-Blow
→ Blocking an attack increases the power of Bardin’s next attack by 5.0%. Stacks up to 5 times.

This talent increases the damage(not power) of Bardin’s next attack.

  1. 0:04
    → Power vs Chaos / Armoured 30% + Smiter
    Great Axe (w/ Opportunist trait) heavy attack damage : 31.50

  2. 0:15
    → Power vs Chaos / Armoured 30% + Drengbarazi Oath(power +20%) + Smiter
    Great Axe (w/ Opportunist trait) heavy attack damage : 37.75
    37.75 / 31.50 => 1.198412698412698‬ : almost 20% power-increasing effect of Drengbarazi Oath Talent.
    It also can cancel CW’s overhead attack on Cataclysm. This also shows that almost 56% power-increasing effect (1.30*1.20=1.56) is required to cancel CW’s overhead attack.

  3. 0:35
    → Power vs Chaos / Armoured 30% + Crushing Counter-Blow (5 stacks) + Smiter
    Great Axe (w/ Opportunist trait) heavy attack damage : 37.50
    37.50 / 31.50 => 1.19047619047619 : almost 19% power-increasing effect of Crushing Counter-Blow (5 stacks)
    It also can’t cancel CW’s overhead attack on Cataclysm.

If Crushing Counter-Blow really increases the power of Bardin’s next attack, it should cancel CW’s overhead attack on Cataclysm.
I also have tested with Power vs Chaos / Armoured 30% + Crushing Counter-Blow (5 stacks) + Enhanced Power. With this condition [1.3 * 1(0.25 + 0.07) = 1.716 : almost 71.6% power-increasing effect], Great Axe (w/ Opportunist trait) heavy attack can’t cancel CW’s overhead attack.

Conclusion :
Crushing Counter-Blow talent actually work as : Blocking an attack increases the damage (not power) of Bardin’s next attack by 4.0% (not 5.0%). Stacks up to 5 times.

This talent is triggered by not only attacking but also pushing.

In game description, this talent must be triggered when player attacks.

I want to know whether pushing is considered as attacking or not.

Maybe attack power and power aren’t the same things.
And power maybe affects the career overall. What i don’t understand is how you get 5 stacks and only 20% increase in dmg? What am i missing?

I think pushing is considered an attack, pushing also consumes a crit on talents that give your 5th strike guaranteed crit i think (this doesn’t say if its intended or not, might be overlooked on both talents)

Power vs Chaos / Armoured 30% + Crushing Counter-Blow + Smiter
Great Axe (w/ Opportunist trait) heavy attack(non crit + bodyshot) to Chaos Warrior.

And i’m not sure then. I think the only explanation is that 20% power affects everything and the attack power only attacks. I don’t know if it’s a bug or not, or maybe like you said, just worded very vague.
If this is the case, then crushing counter blow is even worse then i initially thought. Hope there gets some dev answer on this.

From the code, it is 5 stacks of 0.05 melee power (the talent description does not specify this) , melee power only increases damage and cleave and not stagger, so I would expect 25% boost to damage and cleave from Crushing Counter-Blow at 5 stacks. However, I also know that melee power is additive with power VS. from equipment which explains the damage increase only being ~20% at 5 stacks. 31.5/1.3=24.23, 24.23*(1.3+0.25)=37.56.

I was wondering if it was something like this. That’s super helpful, thanks! As if calculations in this game weren’t confusing enough without different types of power multipliers that may or may not affect stagger, may be additive or multiplicative etc.

Because of you, I learned new two things that 1) melee power only increases damage and cleave ,and 2)melee power increasing is added to Power vs on equipment.

The talent kinda does tell you i think. Increase power of bardin’s next attack for me that equals attack power increase, but there would be no harm in a better description either way.

I send message to Julia about whether pushing which can trigger this talent is bug or not.
