Exclusively auric maelstrom, yes. Try giving the new shovels special attack with a fully charged heavy a go before you try to talk people down mate.
It’s just as flawless said above: your issue is a weapon issue not a melee buff issue. If you want to deal damage use damage dealing weapons, perks and blessings.
I’m not discussing anything with you anymore. You are the biggest troll on this forum. You clearly love to argue literally anything whatsoever for the ‘thrill of the debate’ and always end up with an ad hominem every single damn time. I’ve seen you do it to lots of people.
“it’s an issue with your skill”, “you’re not doing X how it should be done”, “you need to learn to read”, “you are as dumb as an Ogryn” (wow, good one! claps), “dude it’s a just game” (says the guy who argues as if reading from a celestialy carved stone tablet where nothing is flexible unless it’s something you yourself have issue with… Or if its about ammo or resource management - then that is selectively allowed to be more realistic as it suits you, naturally). You also said “You can 1-2 shot them. Unless your attack hit a bunch of other enemies before the trapper.”, knowing the weapon I’m discussing, then changed your tact to “if you choose a shield why do you expect to take less than 30 hours to kill a groaner etc etc”.
You grate harder than an Italian waiter so please leave me be. I cannot debate you as your consistent holier-than-thou tone and type of smart-ass, spite-laced response just riles me to respond in kind, and thus any debate is lost and derailed.
If you think calling someone as dumb as an Ogryn is an acceptable way to debate here then what kind of response do you expect to get back? It’s rhetorical. Don’t answer. What’s the point. You’ll have a smart-ass response ready to copy-paste I’m sure. I can already tell you’ll be getting a dopamine hit from my clealry upset reply but I couldn’t bite my tongue this time. You love telling people that they’re not as smart as you. Wonderful characteristic.
Before I ignore any further replies from the most ironically named forum member, I will say that no I don’t expect to 1 hit everything (I never said that did I? YOu ShOuLd lEaRn tO rEaD). I just think 2 hits of a ogryn club should be enough to kill a regular unarmoured humanoid (not “all enemies” as I never said that either did I? YOu ShOuLd lEaRn tO rEaD). And who cares about realism? I already said the reason is because it’s damn boring to swipe the same runts over and over. Balancing would not be effected much by this. Shield argument is non sequitur - you either attack or you block. Can’t do both at the same time. Same with all.
What a crazy notion huh. Just like the zealots attacks. (zealot can clear crowds easier with an eviscerator, are faster, and have some insane buffs. Why should a zealot be more powerful than an Ogryn? Because reasons I’m sure. Oh its because the ogryn has a shield! Best arm him with a feather duster then because it’s so easy to not attack your way through near infinite waves of melee enemies with a giant rectangle. Or it might simply because you’re fine with the zealot being more effective than an Ogryn because it suits you.
If we could agree to never reply to each other on these forums again then that would be dandy. Thank you for an epic derail yet again. Save your breath replying. I’m as dumb as an Ogryn remember. I won’t understand a word of it.
I’ve found their timing to perhaps be slightly different recently. I feel like there is a slightly longer delay now between their cry and the net. I get trapped much more than I used to, after I have dodged. Could just be me but it’s such a reflex now that it feels bizarre if it’s the same. Weird to get trapped so much recently.
But the weakest hit from an Ogryn is like a super powered hit from a normal guardsmen.
Orgyns are insanely strong.
So a light tap from an Ogryn should be one shotting the weakest enemies with a light attack if its a single target. It would be like swatting flies to them.
For example, when i say something clearly and someone ignores it multiple times, or misrepresents it repeatedly, then i can only conclude that the person is deliberately misrepresenting what i said, or simply did not read or understand it.
Assuming the best intentions in people, the logical conclusion is that the issue is with reading comprehension.
I am pretty sure that there is not a single case where i made the “it is just a game” argument, since i find this to be a stupid argument myself.
If you know of a case of me making that argument, please provide a citation.
My reasoning is also generally quite consistent and not self centered unlike many others.
No.
You said you were using a club, so i talked about the damage of the club.
That is a different weapon that the club that comes with the slab shield.
Then you said that you were using the slab shield and from that moment, i talked about the shield and agreed that the lights of that weapon are indeed bad at taking out trappers.
Not how the gameplay design works in this case, though.
Being an Ogryn you get more stagger than the other classes, but not necessarily damage. That really depends on your build.
Don’t forget, we’re dealing with Nurgle forces here. Slow, tanky and nearly unkillable.
If we go 100% by lore there will be no gameplay left. You’d have to headshot everyone to kill them.
Both folding shovels can 1 shot Crushers. I believe the Mark 3 club can probably get a 3 shot on a crusher if you let it bleed out with the Brittle debuff.
But in general Ogryn still fulfills it’s fantasy for me. You’re nearly impossible to kill and you can wade into hordes and throw enemies around, without it being so strong as to ruin the game for the other players.
Remember, that yes while enemies are a lot tankier than they maybe should be, so are we. It’s for gameplay balance and it’s fine.
I think a game in the style of Ready or Not or Ground Branch in 40k could be really cool and fit the rules you are going for more.
Not suggesting we should go 100% lore, but things should make sense and for game play purposes too. Like getting punched in the face by an Orgyn will remove your head.
It’s doesn’t have to be OP or game breaking, but being able swat a single enemy on it’s own without having to hit it, half a dozen times isn’t going to do much to the game. But it’s still keeping in the lore of 40k
In Auric missions, there are always disablers (dog, mutant, net, boom zombies, etc.) spawning behind you. This means someone has to wait for them and kill them. Make sure you do.
Totally agree. Personally, it doesn’t happen to me as much as it has for other people on the forum but I have been noticing it happen whenever there is a lot going on at once.
My guess why is that it may have something to do with the sound mixing? I dunno. It is BS whenever it happens tho. Hopefully you didn’t need that penance lmao.
I’ve never even tried to use the light attacks on the shield
most of the toughness regen talents require heavy attack,
you can also inflict bleeding via heavy attack and get up to 60% damage resist
the best damage buff talents are only appled to heavies
the shield is really good to stagger/send flying anything it does not kill outright, but it requires a heavy attack
If you have the time, try smacking around a hoard with fully charged heavies and see what happens.
The only Ogryn weapons I use the light attacks are my XIX shovel and butcher knife.
Both have +toughess blessings, and I use them on my dakka builds only and only because those lack the heavy melee related talents.
