Relentless and Vanguard are distinguished primarily by their stagger/damage distribution, not their swing angle*. Heavy Swords demonstrate both diagonal and horizontal Vanguard swings, Indignatus Crusher demonstrates diagonal and vertical Relentless swings.
*I think Relentless may have some favourable cleave properties; I know Heavy Sword VI/VII Relentless attacks have a hit mass modifier that improves their ability to cleave Flak, but I don’t know if that’s the only weapon with that trait.
Imo yep, needs a rework. I played Shields a lot on Vermintide and I really like how the various attacks chain
Here, dunno, heavy attacks chain feels really clunky… while push-heavy chain (the old push-bash) seems like didn’t exist, push and heavy 1 seem “not linked”
It’s really too slow, terrible sprint efficiency, hides the entire view, planting it on the ground is useful in few situations, when you block you lose stamina quickly anyway
Special is just dumb and rarely used in a fast paced game. Also the shield needs to be able to block while pushing and bull rushing, makes no sense that you get damaged through all that even though the shield is still right in front of me, bulwarks can still block when they do that stamina breaking push, so why can’t I?
Oh and it’s also stupid that it cannot block at least flamer fire at a high stamina cost or something to balance it out. I can already block a million shooters with a bunch of stamina and block efficiency while also moving forward and pushing the enemies back, why does a puny flamer make me run like a coward? Trappers, bombers, dogs and mutants would still be an issue so you are not immune but really, Kruber could block flamethrowers in V2 so an ogryn with a way bigger shield should be able to do it too.
Did I mention the shield weapon having terrible base sprint efficiency and block cost and having 7 stamina compared to clubs with 10? Plus ogryn having no good stamina/block talents in the tree.
So I’ve been playing with the Shield a lot lately, mainly because of it’s effectiveness against pretty much everything. (It’s really easy to spam first heavy)
Main problem for me is it’s light attacks, which are useless, and how fast shooters drain your stamina even with Block perk.
Still, rework is not needed, but some additions like blessings and change to how much stamina do bullets consume, would be great.
