Also, maybe unrelated: What is actually “bugged”? I know it sometimes obviously is, but what is the bugged we are talking about here? I can’t judge with the lack of expectation data I have. Someone posted in the discord a few hours ago that limiting worker threads would influence horde size and other spawn rates, so I assume that is connected? In which case, is it bugged for whom?

Well we both used kinda diffirent logic there. I was talking about surviving in the same spec with the same weapon/tallent choices. And you were talking about surviving in general. We were talking about completly diffirent thing to begin with XD

Thats actually a good question. But i didnt see official statements from devs how should Ai dorector work. But from my expirience sometimes AI director does some really weird stuff that i personally would consider bug.
i’m of the opposite opinion actually, the AI director spawns a set number of specials at once from time to time, you can hear them if they’re close by (2 at a go, the interval may be short) but never like 6 at once. if there’s 4 or more up it’s normally because the team didn’t hunt them down or are occupied with fighting or area transitions.
of course, discounting spawning in your face stuff which is totally bad game design.
i dunno, it seems quite predictable after playing a while. the hard part is that bosses always trigger with a horde following quickly after, which punishes low dps teams quite a bit.
When i talked about weird i mostly meant the naked special spawns they pose no treat alone even if it 4-5 of them. It’s like spawn for the sake of spawn, i dont think FS meant it to be that way, so i consider this a bug.
Also my record was like 8-9 specials in a span of 10-15 seconds (globs/gunners included) But it was still naked spawn that didnt do anything. But i think it was couple of patches ago. Didnt see stuff like that in current patch.

No wave/mobs around at all. Just freshly spawned specials.
As an outsider (not working on the game) it’s hard to tell exactly what is a bug in the AI director since there are issues not related to horde/spawn logic which also causes problems. I suspect that problem of stacking enemies is much more a systematic game issue than an AI issue since it’s more related to in game physics than NPC behaviour…
I don’t think that the general situation is all that bad, sure you some times get totally unfair situations but getting out of them can also bring a rewarding feeling with it so it’s not entirely bad even if it probably is caused by bugs.
Well, maybe we should start collecting averages?
F.Ex., I yesterday had games with an average of 6 specials per minute. Is that too much? Too low? Depends on map/situation?

So I assume some people believe sometimes something is off (some people always believe that, but there were arguments that I can somewhat agree with), but that opens another matter: Is the AI actually consistently bugged, and it only really shows rarely, or is it just tuned in a suboptimal way?
After all, the occasionally very unfair situation is well within specifications.
I think that just 5% of players does legend without problems… only a small part of players writes on this forum, and only a small part of them says that legend is easy.
If between two matches the amount of specials double up, we have a problem.
