Is it possible to activate Multi Frame Generation?

Hi, I’ve been trying for a while, via Nvidia App, Nvidia Inspector, DLSS Swapper etc… to activate the new Frame Generation 4x. Does anyone know a way?

In the Nvidia App it says not available. I’m surprised because I use the normal FG in the game. Then the override via the Nvida app should work, right? So DLSS 4 works, that fits. But unfortunately MFG does not.

Oh yes, I have a 5080!

you need a dll from a different game that has it already

Hmm… I have The first Descendent and Cyberpunkt. That Games running MFG 4x. But how that helps me with Darktide?

the dll from cyberpunk should work you can find more information in this thread

You may need to update the StreamLine DLLs too, see the other thread you replied to.

I try to change the nvngx_dlssg.dll and the sl.dlss_g.dll. If i change both, the game not start! If i only change the nvngx_dlssg.dll,game starts but with FG 2x. I try the files from Alan Wake 2 and Cyberpunk. Both using FG 4x.

I have tried many things now and I can’t get rid of the feeling that it is currently not possible.

Hmm you copied ALL the SL files from the bin/x64 folder as I mentioned previously? It’s probably not a good idea to cherry pick those, it’s a package deal most likely.

THEN you can update the other nv DLLs, maybe easier with DLSS Swapper or the nv App overrides?
Good luck, keep us posted on the MFG, I’m curious, they had it demo’ed on nV site after all right?
Otherwise probably next big update (this year?).

I use DLSS Swapper! And in the game i see that the right things are using. But i cant set 4x. I’m also not sure which DLL files I would have to take from another game. I also always thought that the 2x or 3x or 4x was a setting in the game settings. And the game does not provide for 4x. Only on or off. And Overwrite via Nvidia App does not offer the option. > See screenshots

Yeah you’re fine with DLSS Swapper, right now they’re the same version afaik, last week the nV App was a bit newer.

I’m on a 3080 so I can’t check nV FG, you may have to do additional final steps with profile inspector as discussed in the linked post, some of the methods are redundant and overlapping, but no harm done.

So profile inspector after all the dll updates as linked:

Note there’s a multi-frame count setting in the pic, defaults to 2 suppose, you can try 4 maybe thus forcing 4x MFG?
Do this for the Darktide profile not globally, but you can always revert.

I try. Thats the basic and iam wonderring, why ther is not 2x visible. In the game 2x is activ. And if i change things here, nothing happen. Do I have to do anything else in or outside the inspector or just set it and accept it?

With changes

I’m not sure I understood you 100%, after the StreamLine dlls are updated, then all the other DLLs (SR, FG) and lastly Profile Inspector overrides, how does game behave?
Do you see more FPS in a counter like the recently updated MSI afterburner or does it appear stuck at 2x still?

P.S. Many g-sync displays also have an on-screen display refresh rate indicator you can turn on, which is a framerate indicator with VRR (gsync or compat).

The FPS remains the same as with 2x and the display (see screenshot) also shows that 2x is being used.

Otherwise the game runs fine. I do think that DLSS 4 performance looks a bit unattractive in some places, grids on the floor and so on, but otherwise…

And i use Nvidia FrameView to get the FPS Count and PCL.

I think its somthing with the game. In other games like the first descendent i can easy change FG in the Nvidia App and its working fine.

In general, I would say that darktide would not win a prize for its technical implementation. Visually, it’s a very nice game, and in terms of gameplay, it’s great. After Left 4 Dead, another game that I really enjoy. Reminds me a lot of it too.

Ah well, thanks for keeping us informed, I guess even though DT was showcaed with 4x MFG it’s not on the day 0 list or having the settings in the nvApp

Supposedly updating all the stuff is still better even for regular 2x FG, even on 40xx series.
I guess you’re have to wait for FS and nV to updated some more stuff?
LOL You can always fiddle some more and put back the old StreamLine DLLs and crap like that but I guess that’s a useless longshot.

Yes, I think so too. So I’ll just wait and see and keep making the Emperor happy. Maybe then I’ll get his mercy.

Thanks for your help!

Ah I wasn’t much help really, thank you for giving us feedback and information, I think many of us are curious how it will behave.
P.S. FWIW, Cyberpunk patched is still running StreamLine v2.2.1.0
CP Update Failed , disregard!

I cannot confirm this. My file after Cyberpunk Update looks like this.

Oh for the love of pete it didn’t update my CP game properly, patching failed (says space, thanks GOG). Makes sense now. I need to go back to bed. I guess it would be silly to think downgrading to CP’s files would change anything…
