Is Glaive OP in Legend?

For your problem ou say with the charge time: i had the same problem, than i played the dwarf with the warpick (as far i know the wepon with the slowest charge time) i played it for a while, changed back to kerillian and whoaa i was impressed how easy it felt to play with the glaive.

But i still think the glaive is kinda op

Thanks.

i used to run waystalker as my main (i’ve switched to shade now) and i found that the glaive is the only weapon where i can confidently use in any situation, any difficulty. i like the laziness of the light attack swings, it pretty much handles hordes in a wide angle and has a pretty good reach, while the heavy attack wind up is extremely satisfying to pull off on any elite mob (that loud SQUELCH or CRUNCH sound is addictive on 2nd heavy attack)

it’s also a shield breaker, first two heavy attacks means 2x shield infantry loses their shields at a go, very good since the last thing u want is some shield unit blocking your light attacks and some other mob attack gets through because you weren’t expecting the stagger to be blocked.

it’s easy to use, every attack goes through armor, crits are crazy, my only sadface is that it’s not a cool looking sleek weapon like a sword lol

edit: to answer the question, no, i don’t think it needs nerfing, because it’s the only weapon that fills its role in the elf’s arsenal - it’s a slow heavy hitting axe, compared to all her other quicker and lighter weapons.

But is it OP? Does it need nerfing?

It’s quite odd looking imo. Like a 2-handed axe instead of anything like a RL glaive which is a polearm.
The old world armory lore reference cites the glaive as a polearm as well (same category as the halberd which is accurate). In-game it clearly isn’t.

I think devs might have misinterpreted the description.

Yes, it is unequivocally OP.

It’s fast, wide attacks that hit many targets, the push attack is fast and streamlined with a wide sweep that proceeds the left-right. Can remove shields, deal damage to all armor types. Strong elite removal on top of it.

The only ‘‘downside’’ is 2 shields/stamina BUT those stats can come from slots ( necklace ) with very few other options in that slot.

Compare it to the 2h sword it does the same but slower without armor pierce, albeit charge but thats about as slow and does less damage. The push attack has got a weird delay after the swing leaving you vulnerable.

I choose not to play with it because it trivializes content imo.

It’s probably the best anti elite melee weapon and that’s why it’s so good on Leg. The same reason other weapons aren’t as good. On lower difficulties any of ther other, faster weapons would be better as there are less elites. It has huge wave clear too, but Spear has better wave clear and higher damage over all, if you can pull it off.

If you’re playing WS without any Chaos power it doesn’t feel as good. If you run it on Shade, however, it’s insanely good with all the stagger and cleave. I really prefer the Spear ATM though, as you can carry harder. Getting left with Chaos patrols etc can be a little more unforgiving tho.

Edit: people saying it’s op probably haven’t played Spear to it’s potential or anything else with nice cleave, as Shade.

@Kitten So you think it is not OP, right?

@Maud @mookanana @mogdaens @Storeslem Same question to you guys: is it OP? Does it need nerfing?

for me it depends on the class you are playing. it synergises nicely with WS because her kit has problems with armor and bosses, she can’t evade mobs with abilities so she has to take them down or protect herself in close range.

for the shade… i can’t run with anything other than sword and dagger. sweeping attacks for horde and ability generation, dual attacks to slay 2 chaos warriors at once, and a dual dagger stab for high single target damage and double arrow return, it’s invaluable. the quick attacks and high crit chance means that with resourceful combatant, you’re generating your ult at an insane rate as compared to the slow glaive attacks.

heaven’t specialised in handmaiden yet, that’s my next project =P

as i said yes it is kinda op, does it need nerf? I dont think so.

My main problem is how long it takes to charge the strong attack

Long charge time for the heavy? What?

You know you don’t have to charge it until it auto releases right? Glaive doesn’t have any special charge that deals more damage like pickaxe or rapier. It deals the same dmg regardless of charge level.

You have to hold the button 0.3ms (tested with a macro to manually put in hold).

I think it’s fine. You have Exe sword which can do the same thing. Push-attack with Halberd that works just as well. Slayer can melt Elites. Falch can stagger and do decent damage to elites. I think Bardin’s mining pick needs a buff to put it on the same level.

Other than that, people have ranged weapons that can deal with elites just as fast anyway. Are Bardin and Kruber’s Shotguns op? Longbow headshots op? etc

Yeah, for WS it makes up for running low ‘Power vs x’ and running more crit/attack speed+ crit power.

I’ve tried a Handmaiden build and just don’t get it. There’s nothing you can’t do better as Shade and have more fun doing it. I really feel like she needs a Shield weapon.

Because it is more of a Bardiche and less of a Glaive. Kerillian spear on the other hand is more of a Glaive than of a Spear, cause the edge is so wide. But both these weapons are kinda a mix between two things, thus the naming is legit.

Also any shafted weapon can be called a polearm if the shaft is 1.5+ meter long. The number is not precise, but about right.

i believe the handmaiden’s role is primarily CC and distraction, with the right build she’s virtually untouchable, which means she can play the attrition game best out of all the classes. many people do speedruns with the handmaiden, so her evasion capability is unmatched for sure.

@mookanana dosn’t belong here but why are you everywhere xD

But have you tried stacking dash on top of dash when you’re doing dash?

I would say other weapons need a little tune. Glaive isnt OP just very strong.

not sure what you mean, glaive was my main weapon for a very long time until recently when i fell in love with the shade, so this is totally my topic

i love any and all constructive discussions about the elf because she’s my favourite character, so i’ll definitely chip in =D

The blade is short.

This is the lore passage:

Glaive (Common-Good): A glaive is a nasty pole-arm that
features a heavy blade like a large butcher knife. Glaive
blades often have hooks or additional tines.

Clearly a very literal interpretation, however the current design has no reasonable way of adding hooks or tines such as in RL were used against cavalry.
