just gonna put this here cause it’s got cool info in it. some points i found interesting:
fatshark is now the second studio to have pioneered new lore in a video game, in this case the alpha primus skitarii
apparently they never planned to coordinate releases of mechanicus classes/arbites classes with other games in the franchise which is surprising and might affect speculation for the next class
they plan to not drop development on anything just because it’s not well received at first, they prefer to fix it. specifically named as examples: mission board system, crafting system, expeditions. specifically not named: mortis trials.
in retrospect he would say darktide should’ve released in early access, even just for player feedback purposes
for dev direction and priorities, he says that while they do sometimes prioritize player requests and feedback, there are things that players dont know they want yet that they’ll prioritize
no changes to monetization planned, so fomo store not planned to change, no changes to the aquila packs like the promised 100 planned either
next class codeword will start with D, they’re alphabetical
Haven’t watched the video yet so I don’t know if he was specifically referring to 40k when he talked about pioneering new lore but Vampire Coast (pirates) in TW was OC.
Quite a few things were created wholesale (Like the Bretonnian ghost Lady) for the video game, but they did exist prior to CA’s.
Think Thanquol would be, Shadow of the Horned Rat then in the Gotrek and Felix novels.
If we consider smaller cross overs, the Vt2 cast did appear in WFRPG 4e, and possibly even feature a character from the Dark Omen/Shadow of the Horned Rat games.
Because they have a proven track record of knowing exactly what the community wants…
if any of the streamers is correct the tenth iteration of a maul will be meta instead of literally anything else they could have given us. Im not complaining that the maul is good, but that we get yet another maul in the first place despite having so many great 40k options.
at 23:20 or so the question is “do you plan to change monetization in any way”, and his reply is more or less just “we dont plan any changes currently”
Actually, there was precedent for most of their roster, the characters come from a pirate themed WH board game, except for Cylostra Direfin and I believe possibly the Depth Guard.
A lot of Cathay was developed (with GW) for Total Warhammer 3.
Brother, they have no reason to. They have found the formula, for 40k at least. Proven by the likes of even you gushing at the chance to buy the new class because you love mechanicus so much.
I’ve seen nothing but people going crazy at this long awaited class, every other issue be damned.
Not hating, I’d likely act the same if I had any investment in 40k and a class I absolutely loved dropped.
Just saying these companies know what a joke “vote with your wallet” has become (and really always was).
Okay, so he’s talking about classes here. The interviewer isn’t really trying to nail him to the wall on the FOMO store so this isn’t really anything beyond Standard Executive Waffle.
maybe i misunderstood but i thought they were talking about monetization in general, and “no changes planned” basically would mean “yup it’s staying this way eatshit”
My takeaway was he is saying they will continue to sell cosmetics and classes, but not maps or game modes. I don’t think he was commenting one way or the other on aquila quantities or how the cosmetic store will be structured.
The next class is either a xenos mercenary of some sorts or low ranking Sororitas member who don’t use power armor yet, I do not think there’s anything else to top Skitarii addition. Since Dark Heresy game made a kroot character, I don’t think something like this is off the table.
People meme about felenids, but something like them would be a cool flavor in Darktide with animal pounce type ultimate and such.
Also there were some datamines of new weapons for different classes, including one for Arbitrator.
