Simple, really. If anyone joins the server / game while it is loading in a new map or switching sides, the load will never be finished and people are forced to ALT+F4 quit. Didn’t seem to be reported yet, so here it is.
Really annoying, ends game sessions often.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Enjoy any random game of Vermintide Versus.
Midmatch the map / side switches.
Player joins your game mid load.
The server gets confused and eternally loads the game.
(sometimes) waiting long enough (5 minutes and such) it will get it right and continue. Often it does not.
I’ve waited 32 minutes after going 50 to 0 on engines at some point with no leavers in the game on a 50 ping lobby and 10 minutes in a 300 ping lobby in a 230 to 230 bell game as well. Maybe it is related though.
Leavers do seem to cause it to happen more often than not. People that are loading in by the end of the round and getting kicked due to it ending don’t seem to be affecting of it, it’s usually people in the game already for me.
At the end of 2025 this issue IS STILL NOT RESOLVED which is absultely insane, given that it is MORE gamebreaking than a simple crash, which tends to result in far less wasted time than waiting for the game to load, unless one knows about this bug and ALT F4’s. Of course, even if someone knows of this bug, given that loading times can be up to minutes long if a player on either team has third world internet, which is often the case, differentiating between “normal" and “infinitely bugged” can take some time.
I’ve seen this bug literally kill the entire gamemode at least once now. People kept leaving the infinitely loading game, which in turn prompted the quickplay matchmaker to fill those slots with whoever was queuing. Over the course of 20 minutes, one bugged game has depopulated Versus quickplay by making everyone who (solo)queued ALT F4.
This is probably the single most gamebreaking bug in Vermintide 2 and has been since the launch of VS. And it occurs very often.@FatsharkLev , how is this still not fixed?
