Infinite ammo recon torrent rifle

Onslaught works on ranged weapons? though that was a melee only talent.

It does but MF is very likely a better damage boost for recon on every enemy other than crushers so I’m not sure I agree with that recommendation regardless.

Not just crushers, maniacs too! Also to lesser extant flak.

It makes downing muties much quicker.

Thing is, this recon rifle kinda struggles vs flak armor so it might be a good idea to pick it instead of MF. (but my gun is freaking bricked and stuck with “unarmored dmg”… So i cant test if simply putting flak dmg would fix it)

Quicker than MF though? I’ll have to test it myself sometime but that doesn’t add up to me at all.

IDK, try it! Last time I played recon (and it was before the last buff) onslaught just basically turned everything into a blender, extra points for it boosting infernus damage too.

Btw just to make sure.

Does ranged finesse increase crit chance or not?

Also theres one thing that makes no sense, why would you drop krak in favor of shredder and then add a point to demolition stockpile?
I do understand dropping the krak and picking shredder to save a talent point and putting it somewhere else (if you’d pick onslaught to deal with carapace) but then wasting it on stockpile…
Shredder nade seems completely redundant in this build, since unless there are 2 people other people with heavy ammo consumption you’d simply use the gun to clear anything from the hordes to the specials and ranged.

Finesse increases crit and weakspot damage not chance.

For your other question Shredder is fun, and an irreplaceable help if you have to res people or to save yourself from some situations. Stockpile kinda allows you to do it more.

You can remove it and put it somewhere else if it fits your play style more, I just find it hard to give up a regenerating defense measure on a build that is very fragile and has nothing else to fall back on (eg: VoC, Stealth, Knife mobility etc.).

Welp you’ve got that right, it is very very fragile…

I was supposed to take a break from tide starting today but… That Onslaught working on ranged weapons and mowing down crushers sounds super enticing.

I’ll try out without MS and kraks tomorrow and try adding onslaught, precision strikes and superiority complex.
And my beloved cata sword since i wont need the axe anymore.

I dropped krak from my version of this build because a 6d with onslaught was faster vs crushers than the grenade (unless they’re very tightly packed).
Yeah the gun is good against hordes but saving a point is reason enough on its own.

@Nish @alsozara
the results are in.
first, the bad :
-About onslaught working on maniacs/ragers - I didnt see any noticeable difference

Now the good :
The gun now is able to take down crushers in 3 seconds (or until you have 15% stamina left if you’re aiming, (also faster to kill them when aiming at the chest when you have no ES & MF)), and maulers in around 4.5-5 seconds (0% stamina left)
(both without executioner stance or marksman’s focus stacks)

In the end i decided to keep Marksman’s focus since by getting rid of the krak i didnt need to sacrifice it to get onslaught.
I also tried both with precision strike and with long range assassin and concluded that long range assassin was working much better.
ALSO checked “out for blood” vs “exhilarating takedown” and with takedown i was able to stay alive for far longer.

First is - out for blood and precision strike on auric maelstrom :

Something worth pointing out in this one was that in this mission 1 other person was also using a recon rifle (different build) and another was using infantry autogun. And overall run out of ammo only once and at the worst possible timing and died. Because someone didnt bother dropping a crate when everyone was low on ammo…
So this build’s ammo limit is 3 people with ranged focus builds. You might struggle somewhere in the middle of the mission and if no ammo crate is found and if someone wastes ammo which did happen here and there.

Second is - long range assassin, and exhilarating takedown :
(I had 2 deaths in total in mid and very end of the mission because i was the only one able to kill the enemies at long range, and this gun does NOT work very well where there are grates and fences in the way… So take note of that when you pick the mission)
Overall only needed around 6 small and 2 large ammo packs (rest was picked up as to not waste it so i think this can be considered the overall amount you will need for this build)

Overall this small change (getting onslaught) made a very big difference, i think this build is now reliable enough for auric maelstrom. So thank you @Nish

I feel like I prefer out for blood on recon because I always run infernus on it plus shredder bleed also triggers it (and I’m also used to it doing a lot of melee).

Without infernus your choice of ExTakedown is a better call I think.

Onslaught is the must to go with all automatic rifles (brauto, aig, recon). Faster is the rate of fire, the better it works.
So works very well for accatran MK VId, graia brauto and the beloved columnus MK5.
