CREATING AND USING MODS FOR WARHAMMER: VERMINTIDE 2

This section is about creating, using and sharing your own user made game modifications, or mods, for Warhammer: Vermintide 2.

USING MODS

To be able to find and install mods, you simply open the Workshop tab from the game’s Steam Hub and subscribe to the mods you want to test; Steam will make sure to download them before booting up the game.

When subscribing, the workshop will also tell you if there are any other mods you need to get that mod working as Mod creators are able to set up reusable components that can be re-used for a number of mods.
To test your newly installed mod, simply start the Vermintide 2 Launcher and select the mod you wish to use. If your mod is not yet sanctioned by the developers, you will need to select “Modded realm” at the bottom left of the launcher for it to work.

CREATING MODS

To start you off, we’ve drafted a quick start guide that explains the modding process below, and also a quick list of further links that you’ll want to explore for more information and inspiration.

The modding community will also be there to help you out and welcome any new discoveries you make.

MODDING RULES FOR WARHAMMER: VERMINTIDE 2

In addition to the above guidance, bear in mind that Warhammer: Vermintide 2 contains IP owned by Games Workshop, and as a result you should consider the following when creating mods for this title.

  • When uploading Warhammer: Vermintide 2 mods to the Steam Workshop, you’ll need to confirm you’ve read and agreed to the relevant sections about Mods in the game’s EULA, including but not limited to Schedule 1 “Modding Terms”.
  • Please ensure your mod meets the requirements laid out in the EULA, especially with regard to the treatment of Games Workshop and Warhammer: Vermintide 2 IP, and ensuring that no third party IP is present.
  • Do not include or alter content in a way that is offensive or denigrating to the World of Warhammer Fantasy Battles.
  • Apart from Warhammer Fantasy Battles content, please do not include other Games Workshop IPs like Age of Sigmar or Warhammer 40,000 which is separate and often licensed to other companies, or used in other games.
  • It is not permitted to charge or ask for money for your Warhammer: Vermintide 2 mods.

SANCTIONED AND UNSANCTIONED MODS

Sanction mods are a feature for Vermintide 2 found via Steam Workshop. Sanctioned mods are mods that we allow on the Official Realm of the game. Since Warhammer: Vermintide 2 contains progression systems, we cannot allow mods that “cheat” or make the game easier in ways that go against our design philosophy. The type of mods we will allow (sanctioned mods) are quality of life mods, certain UI mods and similar. We will look at these on a case by case basis and give them sanctioned status where applicable. This means that they will be whitelisted in our anti-cheat software and anyone can use them in the official realm. Mods that do not meet the criteria can still be used, however, progression will not be saved server side and they can only be used on the Modded Realm.

Fatshark reserves all rights to remove sanctioned mods at our discretion based on the agreed upon EULA and restrictions noted above.
