You got 1300 hours out of Darktide, and I got a little over 1400.

What exactly is there to complain about?

Combined, we have around 3000 hours of gameplay. That is a huge return on our investment in the game.

The fact that we both had fun for over 1000 hours speaks to Darktide’s entertaining gameplay.

I’m also done with Darktide, and I’ll be playing Helldivers 2 after February 8. Right now, I’m back grinding Final Fantasy XIV in preparation for Dawntrail, and Dragons Dogma 2 will also be out soon. :joystick:

I’ll continue to read and participate on the Darktide forum since I enjoy the community.

Did we have fun? I really did, and that is all that matters. Everything ends. Nothing lasts forever.

How do you feel about crafting?

Oh, you mean the very same DRM utilized by Apex Legends, a game you may be familiar with?

How about fearmongering the other large online games out there that use Easy Anti-Cheat and other similar anti-cheat software?

Time to stop playing them as well?

Definately time to stop playing Ubisoft, Rockstar, Microsoft, all online shooters games then!

I used to protest about the bloatware while playing Silkroad Online with my pals 20 years ago, because back then those anti-cheat softwares actually were dangerously close to being virus just as CCleaner, Kaspersky and Windows antivirus could brick your PC due to “false-positives”.

They no longer are. Times have changed.

You know exactly how we feel :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Which was a long time ago (2019).

I played the living kark out of Helldivers 1, protecting Super Earth against disgusting bugs and walking trash cans, so I’m not worried.

On launch day, I’ll be in the trenches battling alongside my fellow super citizens!

Arrowhead knows what they’re doing, and switching to third person was the best idea they’d ever had up in the SEWERS of Sweden… erm… I mean, Stockholm!

It’s all good, my friend. While I may be annoyed by the ignorant fearmongering about DRMs today (which is a relic), it is not personally directed at you!

Much obliged #509… much obliged.

You may be gone, but your name will live on.

Let me just say this:

I have a Revolver for my Zealot that was a near-perfect roll - 80% base damage, 80% mobility, 80% critical bonus, 80% reload speed, Hand Cannon IV, etc.

But I will never get that lucky again. Why can’t I just design all of my weapons’ specs from scratch? Why can’t I share that specific Revolver between my Psyker, Veteran, and Zealot even though all of my Rejects are Level 30? Why must I deal with these silly locks? Why must I farm Blessings? Why is Crafting in general so taxing on my Plasteel?

There are many of these kinds of questions that shouldn’t have to be asked in the first place.

And if you ask any of these questions, you risk being executed for challenging the will of the Emperor!

But seriously, I do not know why.

It’s clear that Fatshark understands how the community (at least the outspoken members) feel about the so-called “crafting system.”

This was my first Fatshark game, so imagine my surprise when Fatshark cut off all communication from Catfish after determining that the game was "reasonable.”

I had hoped that Fatshark would continue to interact with the playerbase to compensate for the launch issues like GSG (Deep Rock Galactic) did, but they just went silent.

I saw a story journal in the news section about the Zola issue, but I did not read any of it.

At this point, I am not sure what Fatshark could do to shake things up and get me interested in the game again. Adding new weapons, improving crafting, and creating new maps are all good things, but they are not enough for me, especially since they are struggling to keep the balance of what they already have and the problems with bloating the loot table coupled with crafting.

As you know, I have been farming Auric Maelstrom since it was released, and the game does not seem to be getting past that point at the moment.

While not particularly complex, a war system similar to that in Helldivers (which can also be lost) may have contributed to the impression that the Inquisition is pushing the war on Atoma.

Helldiver’s war system, which could drag on for weeks, did an excellent job of making the player feel like we were/are the last line of defense on Super Earth, and the more wars won, the harder it became to win the next one. Each victory gave all players various buffs and other benefits, while losses resulted in debuffs.

But I’m probably just being whiny, but I really like the good parts of Darktide and have had so much fun in all the hours I have played, but I personally just want or hope that Fatshark can somehow make the game something more than just a mosh pit of specials and elites.

To be completely honest, I have no idea why Quorin is constantly sent down to Atoma with three other Inquisition members. Why? What exactly are we doing there? I understand the assassination mission, but why are we fighting hordes of enemies while investigating? How does this help the war effort move forward, or are we permanently trapped in this bubble where no one wins or loses??

Said that after 1300 hours of play

I hate shotgunners, pox busters and gunners. Also rushers and ashls which don’t watch for their teammates.
Still playing on Auric with randoms with like 20% win rate.

It’s that near? Dang, I haven’t been keeping a close enough eye on it

While I own Helldivers on PC (but don’t know anyone who also owns to play with), I did knock a ton of fun out of it playing splitscreen on PS4 during college. Accidentally gibbing a friend with the shotgun, while tragic, was never not funny.

I understand that the game designer’s perspective is probably that chasing perfect items give players incentive to play and some sense of archivement when they get something good. However I don’t think it fits the game like Darktide. I like to experiment and learn how to play with different weapons or builds and having to go through RNG hell every time I want to try different weapon with particular combination of perks and blessings on 4 characters is just pain. Not to mention inventory management.

Recently I’ve been trying to craft new Power Sword with 2 desired perks instead of 1. I’ve spent around 1 500 000 ordos trying to get decent base for crafting. Guess how many swords with 370+ base stats I got? - 2. Of course both of them were bricked by the Hadron. Like not even close. Anyway I believe the chance to roll 370-380 base stat out of 300-380 range suppose to be 12.5%. Now I’m wondering if I was just incredibly unlucky, or if the RNG is made so that the higher base stats are more rare or perhaps item generation is bugged. Who knows?
There are other weapons I’d like to try but I stucked on this non-sense. Almost every crafting session ends up with the frustration and sense of wasted time and effort that more than anything discourages me from playing to the game.

Anyway what keeps me playing is not some stupid crafting system but rather fun and engaging gameplay that I enjoy with my friends. Even if I get tired of it or move to some other game for time being I’ll never say no to my friends when they ask me to play few rounds in Darktide because its fun. So I think it’s perfectly fine to take a break and perhaps return back when there is a new content to explore.

What I’m missing in the game most is the diversity. We need more maps/mods (e.g. guarding fortress), more enemy types, more weapons, more blessings, etc. And also the stuff that is already in the game needs to have its place to give players more meaningful choices.
