Since Newgryn has been out for a bit, I’d love to see what builds/weapons/blessing variations you found so far that you find OP. Other class builds you’re welcome to show as well if you want. I’m just curious is all on what you guys are coming up with so far. Trying to get a better idea on what you’re using. Maybe you’ve discovered something that nobody has seen yet. It’s for Science after all.
bully3 with skullcrusher + thunderous goes bbb
krourk4 with confident + slaughterer
karsolas with wrath + slaughterer
achlys twin stubber with blaze away + overwhelming fire for gunlugger
Yeah, Krourk/Mb3 light spam is pretty meta right now. Especially with CS on them it’s like you can hardly die. Something that’s not super meta, but still right up there is the shield. Been using that thing way more it feels amazing with just a normal melee build it’s been addicting to me… Rumbler is pretty meta as well with shrapnel/adhesive even without some gunlugger nodes it’s still amazing honestly.
i really like adhesive on rumbler, but what second blessing do you have the best experience with? i use shattering impact atm. blaze away is also a choice, but i tend not to shoot that much in volleys to make it pay off. do you find shrapnel effective for bleed?
I use both of those but put on Shrapnel more often for the bleed because I find that Shattering Impact doesn’t last too long for the buffs, which I don’t like much. I get most of those buffs from melee. I find which does the job just as well like Brittleness on club, etc. I would say that if you don’t have Brittleness on a melee weapon than it’s cool to have Shattering Impact on Rumbler. I just like Shrapnel better just personal preference. Just so everything dies faster from bleed AOE & your defences are buffed up for the damage resistance. Really all depends on your build & preference.
I mean, if you want straight up bad manners be the guy with enhanced box, rumbler, fire explosion, PBB and BLO.
Not because it’s meta but because some poor soul is gonna be playing a slide show after every explosion.
Cleaver required to be fast enough to suck up all ammo/nade drops.
Lol, Pretty much. Even my 4090 was nervous with this kind of build from the stutter. It held up, but still pretty shtty.
This Build is probably the most overpowered. It’s kinda comical what the rumbler can do to bosses and horde alike.
Gunlugger Ogyy w/ Cleaver IV+Rumbler
Cleaver runs Confident Strike+Slaughterer
Rumbler runs Shattering Impact+Blast Zone/Adhesive Charge
Big Boom talent is a must
Enjoy 40% brittleness on everthing and no frames
that some interesting combo of tough + dakka ogryn, gonna try that
Mister_E already brought up the Rumbler set up, and I feel that ‘gives the jist’ quite effectively. Back Off! giving free grenades is just a continual treat, to the degree I just threw on a Power Maul for funsies just to have a build that runs it. A bully club as always works well with it too (especially due to all the stagger damage enhancements), but felt the maul was just nice flavor and still preformed rather well. Also not sure if the Big Boom synergy still worked with it, but just in case it did felt it worth having active. I have a few other rumbler variations too for room wiping when the team is less ammo consuming, that just drops Frag Bombs over and over that basically clear rooms by themselves.
To also bring up something different though, ‘light/push attack only shield’ is a funny set up, and actually does insanely well thanks to Brutish Strength, just light attack everything and push bonk armored targets until they die, heavily amusing.
The cleavers and clubs are way better balanced than before, try the bull butcher again…that unique stab combo is very fast. Brunt’s Pride punch is almost overtuned atm, you can mash through the thickest hordes since the slap has wide CC and the punch has the same hitmass as the ‘relentless’ lights.
nice zealous ogryn
maybe not “OP” but i made it my goal to beat havoc 40 full health and this one
went extremely well.
base build is from “first tour guardsman” which i modified to suit my needs.
aint a big fan of the b b b light attack spam with the bully club so krourk gives me a better combo option and a nicer “flow”
Ahh, with a look like this, gives me someone I can directly ask this question.
I’ve seen a build or two that uses ‘The Best Defence’ instead of 'Smash ‘Em!’ as the one of toughness regen talent, and I wanted to ask, why?
To my understanding, The Best Defence only triggers when you hit multiple enemies in your swing, which, granted, does happen a vast amount of your swings, but some like against Crushers and the like will not, and I always take Smash 'Em! because of it.
As, to my understanding, Smash 'Em! triggers every hit, as you’re always hitting at least one enemy. But is that in fact not the case? I know it says ‘after hitting a single enemy’ but I swear I’ve always felt it giving me toughness (though, to be fair the only builds I don’t run both are builds that have Confident Strike on them as well…so have I just been feeling that + kill toughness regen in the wave the whole time?).
I could do the tests myself…I might when I don’t need to sleep, but figured I’d ask in case you knew, or if you just clicked the one other peopel do?
thats the key.
usually i’m only in a pickle when fighting mixed hordes, so having a talent that gives back based on the number of enemies makes sense for my playstyle.
single enemies, i get back from confident strike and enough to the point the other talent would feel redundant.
then again with a good combo of the krourk and punch, a staggered crusher doesnt stand long enough to provide proper toughness recharge, at least in my experience.
all in all the full health idea is to not be as reliant on constant 100%toughness anyways, since you can ignore a good deal of the chip damage and refill your toughness in the next encounter.
so bursters or mutants whacking your face is hardly a concern even with 0 toughness at the moment.
Ahh I see, I was just mostly wondering if I was ‘missing something’, but an interesting take for sure.
From my experience, both of these are calculated ‘per swing’, so Smash 'Em! triggers on hit of the first enemy immediately, then The Best Defence procs on the second hit during that same swing. But I don’t think/haven’t noticed getting multiple hits of ‘The Best Defence’ as it just triggers that one time, then you have to initiate another swing to get both talents to give you toughness again.
That was my experience at least, so was just wondering if I was wrong in that understanding, but doesn’t necessarily sound like it. I will say Confident Strike is always the carry though for sure, as it most certainly procs ‘per hit in the chain’ so every hit/smack after the first gives you toughness back. This ends up being the reason I always thought Smash 'Em synergized the best with it, as you’d get toughness for the first hit, then continue getting toughness every hit/attack after with Confident Strike.
But at the end of the day it is just ‘whatever’ so long as Confident Strike is on (and when it’s off, one tends to take both anyway so once again is moot), was just ‘intrigued and curious’ if there was any insight I failed to see.
Based
confident strike seems redundant in normal (auric maelstrom) games to me, since ogryn already generates enough toughness. i prefer pairing slaughterer with savage sweep here.
it’s excellent for havoc though.
it’s a relic of the pre-skilltree era when it was the only way to generate toughness, besides bullrush iirc, so everyone used bull butcher 3 with confident + slaughterer.
as for the bully club, i think light attacks should proc less bleed so heavy attacks are rewarded more because heavies need better timing and distance keeping than just mashing a button. i have praised the “no stopping me” node a couple times, i feel immediately when it’s active and when not, so even with the 3b i use to slide towards the target while charging up, smack them heavy, 2-3 lights and dodge > heavy again.
btw, what are the preferred blessings for kickback here? i used to go full bore + surgical which go obviously well together, but then switched to full bore + run&gun because i’m rarely aiming so long that surgical builds many stacks.
Pick axe damage and cleave maxin… everything melts cleaver does this well too.
The explosions builds are effective but also annoying… already playing with a screen blocking walking in front of veteran ogryn now add explosions….
