Well, everything alcohol related in Sweden seems to be expensive, as I’m sure you’ve notice, but the service is normally top notch. Went to a pub in Sandviken, 30 mins outside Gävle, and the bar keep made every drink I asked. Me and me mates ordered a bunch of random drinks from “martini shaken not stirred”, to a “alien brain hemorrhage” and he made them all. I’m happy with a pint Guinness or Belhaven stout though.

Give me a PM next time you head up North a bit, only 1 and a half to 2 hours outside Stockholm. I’ve actually been down in Nacka Strand and Artipelag just outside the old town for the past 2 weeks for work.

OK, full disclosure: I’ve met Hedge and indeed shared beers with him. I’m also one of the subreddit mods.

One of the great things about the subreddit is that it isn’t an official forum for communications. And in that light letting the devs be people as well as representatives is actually what we want, there. Holding the devs to one standard and the rest of the redditors to another standard isn’t cool.

That´s what happens with that 102830657 players feedback. The most isn´t even real feedback, mostly a subjectiv view and flame over flame over flame.

well, tbh i dont think id handle the flaming and stuff as gracefully as you all do.

im sure it seems you all are somewhat in a frankenstein’s monster state of affairs with a very popular game, a very vocal and often uninformed (not stupid, just game players and not video game developers so really unsure what exactly you all do and the ease or difficulty of various fixes, changes, patches, etc) player base, and a company that pats you on the back and tells you “engage with the crowd” as they push you out on stage.

but you know some of it is outside your control. but part of it is.

there are a bunch of jacklegs screaming to do this or that with the game. thats normal in the world we live in now. taking it under advisement or consideration is worth it but otherwise feel free to ignore them.

but part of it is also self inflicted. you all miss great opportunities to interact with the crowd.

for instance, when your coders tell you ‘we are going to try to patch abc and the patch is probably/maybe done in 4 weeks or 4 months’ why not pass that on? rather than wait til its done pass on that our guys are working on abc, they are trying to fix it, it is likely done in a month or two, etc. instead you all tell WHEN the patch comes out. missed chance…

and there is silence on so much that really is a big deal to some. vermintide 1 for instance - on summoners peak when you play solo with bots and make the first drop in the game (right where you meet the first rats) the bots no longer drop and just stand there on the ledge until you are 100-200 meters past the drop. do you all know? will it be fixed or is this a permanent feature of the game now? the players of vt1 DO care but have zero ways to communicate with you all because you have vt2 and its forums.

finally, when an idea is more difficult and takes more time and is just not able to be done “now” but is something that would be considered later … say so.

i think most people want to know WHAT you all are doing vs wanting to CONTROL what you all are doing. if you tell people we are working towards some dlc to give you extra missions and then afterwards we are going to do some bug cleaning then probably more dlc and then another round of bug fixing … that gives people the belief that you all heard them, gives them a sense of the plan, and then makes them participants. like a long run. you are running in a group. you have no idea when the run is over. that sucks. you know its 2 more miles = not so bad at all and you can sorta measure the time to end vs never knowing if its 2 or 20 more miles quickly saps at your morale. giving an idea of what issues you are addressing and what not gives people a perspective.

That’s a very good question. Although I might also enjoy directing some of the forum conversation in the direction the devs are particularly interested in (in a different topic, though), I think the most interesting stuff and the things that the players are most concerned about rise more organically from the existing conversations and just playing the game. Still, it could be useful from time to time to ask the playerbase specific questions. Like after the 1.2 Beta Hans (I think) asked in Reddit about our experiences on joining lobbies during the beta, to gauge whether it would be feasible to run a longer (two-week) beta without splitting the playerbase too much, as one week of public betatesting is too short a time to fix everything and especially to test the fixes. The balance conversations might also be occasionally directed towards the specific thing the devs want to balance next.
