I recommend Ray Tracing is off by default

Even with a high end GPU, it cut my FPS in 1/2. Lots of complaints about the performance of this game that wouldn’t have happened if they didn’t have ray tracing on. Game looks great either way.

Out of the question, yes it cuts performance in half. But that global illumination though!

I have a 3090, dlss quality. around 50-60 fps at 2040p

What is out of the question? I didn’t say eliminate Ray Tracing.

Sorry, let me clarify.

You recommend RTX is Off by default.

Well, it depends. If a user has the hardware to take advantage of it, they should.
Game will automatically adjust settings to your current hardware.

I have a 3090, and i have RTX active.
I set reflections to “low” just to get some more frames to even things out, but i keep Global Illumination On max for immersive graphics. Everything else is on max with DLSS Activated of course.

i don’t believe that, I can barely get it to hit 40 fps

I keep reflections on low (since all textures are very dark and noisy) so they don’t reflect anything very well.

But i do keep RTGI on max and rest of the settings on max.
I achieve 50-60 fps.

I have a strix 3090 OC, and the game is unplayable for me with ray tracing set to low even in HD resolution, works fine in 4K without it. I also think ray tracing should be turned off by default until there are better heuristics for auto detecting suitable settings depending on both CPU and GPU performance.

It is IMO more important that the game performs well enough with the default setting than it looks really good for a smaller set of players. I think first impressions probably would improve if ray tracing was off by default.

I have a RTX 3080 and a Ryzen 9 5900X. I was running at 4K with 35-40 FPS. I spent several hours trying to determine what was causing the poor performance. It was worse than BF2042. Everything I tried didn’t seem to increase my FPS at all. Even running 2K kelp me at 40 FPS. Then I turned Ray tracing off and boom, 80-100 FPS in 4K. It would have been MUCH simpler to have that off by default as If I turned it on and lost 1/2 of my FPS, I would have known immediately what caused it.

Same here, i have Gigabyte 3070 Ryzen 7 5800x and on at least low RTX settings i have 30-60 fps… i must turned it off(everything else on max)

That’s very hard for me to believe also. I let the game determine my settings and Ray Tracing was on and that caused me a lot of work. This game ran like crap until I turned it off and I have better hardware than most.
