I love the Relic Blade and the Force Greatsword

I love them. Especially the Force Swords. But also the Relic Blades!

I love them.

Agreed; some people say they don’t like to wait for the full charge for the force sword, but I do. I save it for when a fresh horde comes in, and then it’s gone. Great horde weapon.
I’m using the riposte and burning spirit with the gunpsyker warpfire talent and it’s great. Your reach is 4m, and when you’re hacking and slashing setting things on fire, your regen, coupled with your toughness on crit, setting things on fire with said crits, and gaining toughness when killing things on fire is just so good.

That’s okay.

Although the psyker one really missed opportunities, since the wave doesn’t headshot and doesn’t work with on-crit toughness regen…etc.

I’ve waited two years for this weapon to be released from its datamined file prison…

Executioner’s Sword, my beloved.

well had a solid play with all of them now . there fine they do the job actually probably end up being fairly often used by me.
The problem is the pick axes, compared to the other weapons these class’s have there even a step up. but compared to the pick they feel old fashioned under engineered, generic , little unfair i know if they had been released first my review would of been glowing. but fair or not the bar has simply been raised for me.

to be clear its not about effective for me its all about fun and feels and they are purely subjective.

Thanks

I don’t, honestly. The force sword makes psyker move too slowly to be any good.

The relic blade just feels like you have to do three times the work for half the result of other weapons.

What’s funny is I see folks saying they’re over-engineered. Clearly, there’s no consensus on the matter at this time. Me? I am just glad they’re trying new things.

Im not feeling the slowdown but I do slide around a fair bit.

I was a fan of the Elven Greatsword in V2 and to me the Relic Blade has similarities that I like.

The elven greatsword was way better though. The relic blade is so clunky.

yeah, well the game has a very large spread of “engineering” if your point of reference is say a knife or duelling sword then yeah they are going to look a bit more complicated
but to the picks there a pretty big step the other way.

For me the picks set a new standard for what is possible , and im not saying everything should be that involved we need uncomplicated weapons to it is a personal preference thing . i was just hoping as the picks are alone on that shelf we might get a few more like it

They’re incredibly fun. Someone I know called the relic blade “the best weapon I’ve used in a game”. It really feels like you’re holding a devastating weapon and there’s so many neat little things you can do with them besides power up → slash → power up cycling all the time like ye olde power sword. The art and animation devs did an amazing job as well as the combat devs.

Same! Really amazing weapons and a breath of fresh air for the game!

Btw if anyone’s interested, did some tests on the Force Sword weapon special (no talents or buffs):

Also some notes on Force Sword VIII in general (please correct me if wrong or missed something btw):

  • Mk VIII seems the better variant imo, thanks to its horde cleave compared to VI’s seemingly bad moveset
  • No bonus base crit (per InventoryStats)
  • Non-special finesse dmg mod is ~2x (more for L3-4), very obviously a crit / weakspot weapon esp. on psykers
  • Combos
    • Horde = L spam
    • Single target = H spam
    • Push-attack → H is a heavy stab with extreme finesse dmg
  • A YT vid claimed the special dmg is same for both variants
  • Want to examine Malefic Momentum + Blazing Spirit more
    • In theory it should mean a constant 20% buff for both warp & physical dmg. In practice in grinder, the DoT kills never get to proc. Might be different in-game tho with far more enemies & cleave.
  • Blessings
    • Personal favorites so far are Shred and Riposte / Unstable Power
    • Warp Slice doesn’t seem worth it for the low *1.3 dmg, on 20s CD and long delay to power it up
  • Talents
    • Positively loves Lightning Speed & Warp Splitting

I’m unfortunately in the same boat as Namazu, though I will say specifically for the Relic Sword atm.

Zealots been eating GOOD for a while, so while I think the Relic sword is cool, it feels like ‘so much work for no benefit’ compared to every other options. Heavy Evis has a simpler moveset with massively greater damage and crowd control, thunder hammer has much higher damage output with very good heavies. I’ve even grown to like the Crusher due to learning about it’s high crit multipliers.

But the relic sword seems to fall under that power weapon category of ‘if it isn’t on it’s a limp noodle in your hand, and when it’s on it’s doing about as much as anything else you could use’. It’s also got infinitely more complex movesets to get anything worth doing (that little stab in the X’s light attack rotation really just does notttt need to be there, and trying to weave in heavy’s on such a slow weapon to keep up the cleave attacks feels a bit awkward). I like the II’s feel a little more with it having a block attack cleave into diagnal light into heavy cleave repeat combo, but even then as stated, I’m doing a LOT and barely working through the wave, verses just clicking m1 and watching it fall over.

I feel at the end of the day (besides the moveset being ‘a bit much’), it mainly comes down to not having savage sweep on such a large weapon xD. I still got some experimenting to do (plan to try the crit cleave blessing with rampage, was trying heatsink for a while for heat management but not sure it’s worth it when that’s only half the weapon at best…) but so far, I’m at best ‘look warm’ to Relic Blade.

Psyker Sword seeing that Defense instead of Mobility and then seeing that as it’s near required dump stat due to the rest of them doesn’t give me TO much hope either…BUT I haven’t gotten to try that yet, so I will reserve my judgement there.

BUT, all that being said, I’m just wailing cause I’m personally not enjoying it, GLAD all in here are though, and I’ll just keep trying to see if I can’t ‘find the fun’ that you all have been enjoying. (any tips that have been found up to this point would be appreciated in that endeavor though xD).
