I’m specifically referring to you saying they’ve had no decent feedback. They have. You’re now moving the goalposts. I’m not commenting on the OP, I’m commenting on the idea that they’ve had no feedback. People have been asking for balance changes not massive code rewrites but build your strawman if it makes you feel better.
Couldn’t have said it any better. The lack of compassion towards those who are simply doing their job and have no real say in the direction of development is just sad, and its why I don’t blame any one of those programmers and devs for wanting to leave the industry if they choose to after all this. It’s just dreadful how they get treated.
Lol they get paid well and don’t read the forums. I doubt they care if people are posting about their game being crap online.
Oh you know that? You have connections with the devs? The toxicity isn’t just here btw, its on reddit, discord, twitter, they’re bound to see it eventually. But yeah keep piling it on, won’t fix the issues any faster, just adding fuel to the flame.
Pretty nasty title. If they go under and servers go down we’re left with nothing.
I hope they fix things and make the game systems more enjoyable and satisfying.
The title says “FS goes under”, not “Darktide goes down”. Doesn’t have to be owned, developed and maintained by FS to continue on.
That’s pretty rough.
I instead hope they fix all the bugs release new maps and zones balance the guns and finish the crafting.
Even if they are just working on it that’s enough for me.
I agree with this. I just hope they don’t go nuts with the monetisation to make it happen.
This launch has been such a disaster I hope the moon crashes to the Earth.
I mean, maybe he means he was happy with the reception because he thought it would be way worse? The core gameplay was well received and perhaps that is his perceived victory. You never know.
I can agree that being constructive can feel like you are not being heard, but crying, whining and throwing a temper tantrum cause a game is the way they designed it and not the way you want it will NEVER be heard. Better to try politely and and get ignored then showing your ass, being made fun of and still being ignored.
Did the article really say this? They can’t be serious.
I wish we lived in a perfect world where Fatshark goes bankrupt without depriving the rank-and-file devs of their jobs.
But ultimately I kind of agree with you, OP. These practices can’t continue to be rewarded.
The least they could do is to admit that the game was not ready and acknowledge that it need loads of work to be done…
“Nahhh let’s gaslight them instead. Long as the media keeps doing free PR for us who cares?” - Fatshark
I do not believe that they are trying to fill up a sinking ship. A friend of mine crashed like 9 times in one game. Yet they make it sound like he is 1 out of 10000.
Its sad but by now i as a player can say that the plasmacannon particles cause crashes.
probably not, game dev jobs are literal sh*t when it comes to pay at least at entry level. I mean some people at Blizzard got paid absurd amounts, but look where that got the company (for the record this was also over a decade ago), now you are lucky to get a 1 year contract to live in Cali, for 60k a year working for Bliz (which for the record, is comically low wages for that area).
The gaming industry actively preys on people’s interests to garner cheap labor, most people with the skillsets to make videogames that dont want to live in abject poverty pursue Mil Sim, or Film.
I’m trying to think of a single time I’ve ever seen things work like this, but instead I can only think of instances where the game disappeared along with the devs. Dead island 2 has switched hands, what, 3 times so far in the last 10 years, and it still isn’t out.
Oh, Hellgate! It got bought by a Korean studio like 5 years after flagship went bankrupt and the game disappeared with them… And then they just trashed it some more and it disappeared again a year later. Now it’s released on steam as a Singleplayer classic with no servers because no one wants to touch it anymore.
No, I don’t want fatshark to go down, they make fun games and I love their work (yes, even darktide is fun, everyone will admit as such, as long as you’re in a mission and it’s working, everyone has a smile on their face).
Whoever is in charge of the “design intent” at FS however, I agree the developer team should band together and duct-tape them to the wall so they can actually start working in peace and make the game they know will be good.
DT’s gameplay is for me without a doubt the most fun horde-game I’ve ever played, the core is there, it just needs a lot of work and quite possibly a complete remodel of the area outside the missions.
Minecraft does pretty well.
New game? Never heard of it.
