I hate disrupt destiny

Man. Penances having me playing all kinds of specializations I’ve never touched before and out of everything so far… Disrupt destiny is tied in the running for the worst specialization.

Let me count the hate:

The disrupt destiny target swapping to another mob, while I’m trying to kill it.

The disrupt destiny target running away into a door or area I can’t follow it to.

The disrupt destiny target being part of a large patrol that hasn’t even been pulled yet, while we fight a horde in another area.

Team mates, unknowingly killing my disrupt destiny target before I can. ( No fault of their own, it’s not like they can see it)

It just isn’t very fun, and in order to maintain stacks it makes you do some really ridiculous things… in conclusion, oof.

Assail.

It could really use some indicator of when the actual target expires. Or maybe even some logic to where the target could swap off the gunner that just ran backwards into a door and warped somewhere else.

Maybe should have something to guarantee an enemy near you if you have x number of enemies in X proximity to you.

Maybe a talent change disrupt destiny target to what you’re aiming at if you have been aiming at it for like… 15 seconds consecutively or something, if you’re fighting a monster or boss.

I assume you are running it with keystone modifiers? Its miserable without keystone modi

Disrupt Destiny is the best keystone and most engaging keystone in the game.

If you want baby mode on it just play lingering influence. It is incredibly easy to stay at 15 stacks for a majority of combat time, and with the headtshot keystone modifer you have an entire 30 SECONDS to headshot 1 target.

It actually makes play differently and uniquely, and the payoff is so powerful it shouldn’t be easy to do.

The problems you have mentioned have probably been under 10% of my experience of DD play. Waiting for the target to rotate is not an issue. Even when a team mate kills them, it’s not that hard to switch targets.

I agree a modifier that makes team mates who kill your DD target reset your cooldown would be nice. But it is far from neccassary.

I assume you only feel this way because the penance wants you to run at full stacks (on lingering influence) to get it. Its still powerful at 10 stacks.

I saw the penances.
I thought it might be a bit of a poo-show for a while.
Thought it best to not return until the next update.
Was right??

That’s not me having a go at anyone here, please don’t think that.

But playing for contrived penances it just bad in a game where there’s no solo mode, and potentially 3 other random players are reliant on you playing the main objective. Especially when some abilities are also poo.

What was that quote from Jurassic Park?

I got 15 minutes worth of the new penance within one game. The way the stacks now work make it absolutely ridiculous and it’s rarely ever not maxed out. And whenever it’s not maxed out, it doesn’t go below 10 or so, so you’ll be right back up there + always have substantial benefit from the keystone. You don’t actually have to do strange things, you just have to actually frontline and kill stuff. Never find myself chasing for it, I just kill those enemies it can target anyway and it tends to rapidly hop between them as I kill stuff and I get my stacks. At most it’s sometimes nice to have an incidental vet exec stance outline on random enemies. Definitely benefits from actually using a trash killer build, e.g. assail makes it easy and benefits from it a lot so there’s good synergy.

I think it’s way broken now if anything but it’s just par to the course with talent powercreep. The new marksmans focus is similarly stupid. They should just make these permanent buffs if they want them to be permanent buffs, because they’re literally permanent buffs now. Totally stupid.

Just wait until I have to do the loner achievement… a similar post will be in the making!

I tell u one penance that will wait until the very end, the grims one. I cant be bothered with grims. I may never get round to it.

Hello Rishheck let me help you maintain your stacks

Just Assail the targets. If they get close, the Reshaad BM axe can help you get those weakspot kills

Any damage to the DD target will also refresh your buff, so even if you don’t get the kill it’s very easy to maintain stacks with the ability that spreads dots on elite/special kill + venting shriek. You can shriek through walls

As for aggroing new enemies that’s fine cuz you are the best and I believe in you

Additionally if you are having trouble, the Zarona revolver is great for getting headshots through crouds onto the target

I assume you enjoyed a game with perma 15 stacks
truly the pinnacle of balance changes. Players didn’t like how disrupt destiny works so we made it a permanent buff

I had originally tried to make it work with a staff, which was very unfun since trauma doesn’t “weakspot” hit

Forgive me if I’m being rude, but as a right side tree enjoyer that sounds really, really funny.

I’m sure it’s in part because finesse damage is another one of those things that isn’t explained terribly well.

If you do want a staff playstyle, go Voidstrike. You can get some brutal damage even on Crushers, and decent damage on bosses if you manage to get headshots with it.

Yeah, will agree with this mainly on the grounds of the target being entirely random within such a massive radius.

I get the circle is meant to be big so you can pick your next target as you’re getting to it, but holy crap it feels so bad fighting a horde with your team, seeing the blue in a far off mob behind a wall literally unable to be gotten to without just saying ‘see ya’ to said team to go get it/at least aggro it, and just being like ‘well, do I leave my team, probably die, but actually continue to keep my keystone rolling, or do I stick with my team, and just ignore my keystone’.

It feels terrible, and I think would massively benefit from a ‘proximity’ structure. It actually targeting enemies UP TO 25 meters away, and it specifically targeting enemies closest to the Psyker. This would propel the keystone from ‘annoyingly finicky and bad’ to ‘actually really fun and engaging’, and make it so you could actually take the left side of the keystone and not just have it feel terrible.

For me, I got the penance by going right ,being a gun Psyker, and just using a Columbus Autogun until it eventually popped. It wasn’t the worst thing in the world, but it never felt ‘good’. At best it felt decent when the targets where kind to me, at worst it felt terrible when the aforementioned issues had me dropping stacks while in a horde and not getting the speed boost making me sad.

I swapped back to empowered Psionics basically instantly upon finishing it, 3 free super buffed assails on a gun build with Scriers is infinitely more useful. Free weakspot hits/often kills, doesn’t stack peril so your scriers lasts longer, actually takes advantage of your malefic maelstrom stacks, and I can use the stacks whenever I dang well feel like it. Just feels so much cleaner, to me at least.

It’s not entirely random. It tends to be infront of you and near you, only seeking far and out of view if there’s no other enemies nearby. This behavior is extremely apparent when you start killing a group of bruisers one of which is marked, the mark will rapidly bounce between them as you kill them instead of picking anything distant or not in view.

Only when it can’t do this it picks something far away off behind walls. In which case it’s actually pretty beneficial, you basically get a little hitman vision that shows you there’s enemies there. You don’t have to sprint there just because it’s there, especially now wit hthe massive buff to how the stacks work they no longer all fall off so you can safely ignore it from time to time.

The best part is where you make a build that’s not supposed to be good, but to check off as many class penances as possible at the same time.

Real clownery to be seen when that happens.
