Catfish is brand new, it shouldn’t be her job to write up a community post. Something feels really off about this.
I’m starting to think Management is the real problem here, not the devs and of course not the community managers.

Starting…?
It sucks, but that’s often part of the job of community manager or public relations in general. Someone high up makes a bad call, then they either blame someone else or shove out the PR/communications person to deliver whatever message is cooked up then take the hits.
Where did you hear she is the one writing the new Community Message? At that did that same info say when?
They’ve issued her with mk 3 terminator armour and
If you think she alone is writing anything without some high ups basically putting a block on everything that might remotely make them commit to something then you’re wrong.
the CM will basically just write the initial “Hello Rejects” message at the start and assemble the post.
The rest is written by each department. As above said there is more than just 1 person doing them.
Hell, we even got a glimpse from Aqshy from the previous posts since she said “I have it written up, just waiting for a ‘Go’”. Which means there are someone or several that needs to approve it. Probably each department as well as head of PR whoever that is.
She probably didn’t write up the whole thing and it went thru other people approving or whatever. She is even practically not representing herself, but the developers and other unnamed parties, and the brand of the game/company.
there probably is no problem, some people were probably just sort of upset about something and the parties involved with the issue at fatshark created a communication to the community with the representative simply being the face of said message about whatever “issue”
pretty much the representative doing their job as representing, communicating about positives, negatives, and the future of the game.
here
This is all beyond a joke at this point. Is being the community forward company that Fatshark claim to be really that difficult?
Well, usually it’s a bit different.
Most leads and managers will indeed says what they have worked on and what will be ready for the post / update.
But it’s usually just a basic list of modification by each department. A bunch of ticked off tasks that have been completed if you will.
For example:
The CM then usually organise that list, cut it into section, add a bit of fluff text for higher impact features, go around visiting the department that have ‘unclear changes’ in order to get more informations. Then the CM will ‘translate’ the changes into proper English for the average reader.
For example, instead of having a change in the build called:
Once every information has been gathered, listed, translated and organised (or what Aqshy calls ‘writing up the post’) she most likely has to validate the post by producers, leads and QA to confirm that everything that she wrote up is indeed in the ‘soon to be released update’.
That’s how it worked for me, but not every video game / software company has the same workflow, so I may be not entirely accurate for FS.
Iam so glad this kind of information is on discord where people are banned cuz they ask a mod if he wants to be consistent.
Not on their official forum
I also find it a bit frustrating as it seems like they just try to delay the community update even further by saying that the new CM needs to learn everything first before posting the update… An update the other two CMs could post aswell. Infact Aqshy stated that she had an update already worded weeks ago but they seem to have scrapped it.
It’s pretty unsatisfying to have bits and bites of info flying around in some minor threads on the forums, reddit or discord and I also think it just creates confusion and anger in the community.
why even have to hire and pay someone to be a “Community Manager” when if you just made a good product, your COMMUNITY WOULD MANAGE ITSELF…for free, at no cost to them at all, instead we get professional semantics players who slide issues and hide things and insult us
There’s a new CM?
Welcome to the team! Try not to take anything this community says personally. We’re just passionate.
the devs? You mean trained code monkeys? They didnt make these shitty desions.
a builder would never choose to put the roof under the walls…
wait, are they making her write it?
i don’t know her prior experience or anything about her. but making someone brand new do a big pr move after you launched a proverbial sewage hurricane is a bad practice. both as an employer and a person.
They’re not going to be just saying “hey go write a post and publish it without review and let us know how it goes”.
It’ll be vetted by management like all announcements.
the cynic in me would ask: “vetted by management like the survey which was full of typos?”
This feels and sounds like a delay tactic. Like they are so far behind fixing things that they know the community won’t accept not being fixed (like crafting) in the next update. So they are creating this fake scenario where the new CM needs to learn what to do before an update can come out.
Which begs the question of who isn’t doing their job properly…
