I can't wait for the next update, where they announce a couple bugfixes and "internal discussions"

I’ll believe it when I see it. They were 100% gonna announce Rejects Unite the week before they did until they realized they had absolutely nothing for Skulls and pulled it all at the very last minute.

I don’t trust “maybe”.

Hey man it could be a sequel to the time we got no community update for a comms link, only that it was delayed until NEXT WEEK.

Honestly that’s where my expectations are.

It could be worse, they could just say nothing.

Honestly, I believe @derpherp is correct here.
Baldur’s Gate 3 may be an excellent game for sure. It is, however, no Darktide killer because it falls into an entire different category of game.

BG3 is a turn-based, deeply numbers dependend RPG game.
Darktide is an action game with very light RPG mechanics.

The original tabletop games also functioned very different and drew in different crowds. Only thing these two games generally share is that they have tabletop game origins.

A “Darktide killer” would have to be a game that is 4-man coop and executes the teamplay concept well. Like a new Left 4 Dead game of sorts.

so… today should be new commlink, right? right?

If only somebody could release a great, finished L4D style game without predatory monetization or player retention practices.

Darktide could be that, eventually, if they actually get it into a good state that isn’t merely the bolted together scraps of better, unfinished systems. Hopefully there’s some, any, information today.

Thursday is the normal day for comm links and this is the last thursday of the month , the month that they said the commlink would appear late in, I think someone mentioned one of the CM’s said it would be this week as well.

So all together it’s a certainty it will be delayed until next month

Dead Island 2 is pretty solid when it comes to scratching the gore/dismemberment itch, it’s basically “pick up and play”, has an actual story and 4 player co-op and a better variety of enemies with special skills and properties.

That dismemberment system is actually quite impressive, even if the game never hooked me. Happy to see stuff like that being developed more these days… It means a real and better competitor to DT is becoming more and more probable

Not really sure what to expect from FS, but I kinda doubt they are taking the player loss and retention problem seriously enough still.

One thing I do know will happen no matter what is that there will be massive amounts of community drama : >

No, if they announce that locks are gone, resources are pooled, blessings are not RNG locked.
TLDR our time is finally being RESPECTED then there will be no drama
But this is FS we are talking about so they WILL find a way to f-ck this up again

I think, he’s correct. That’s the only good thing about Darktide that’s left.

We’ll just have to see.

This game costs more to run than VT2 and, given that they don’t have the same majority stakeholders they’d had prior to the start of development, not all of it is Fatshark’s money anymore.

They know they have to change Darktide but, in the longer run, their management style clearly isnt sustainable as game development and operation becomes more and more competitive, complex, and expensive.

The version of Darktide that we have was just barely scrapped together from the pieces of a failed project. It is just barely holding on right now and they had to cannibalize ownership of the company and the trust of their playerbase just to keep the lights on. If Fatshark doesn’t change their management style and keep from making this mistake in the future, Darktide will be their last game.

I’m willing to bet this will definitely not be the case. The word ‘adjustment’ was used purposefully in a couple of announcements regarding locks. If they planned on removing the locks, they would’ve just said so or purposefully left it ambiguous. This is CYA speak for whatever BS ‘fix’ they are planning, which probably still keeps the RNG mechanics in some way, shape, or form.

Don’t forget, they have someone from the mobile games scene running the show… All Jhe seems to care about is cramming as many of those mechanics into this game as possible.

There it is. We found the internal discussions.
