You two seem pretty knowledgeable about these things. Can you tell me what a “Storm Shield” is?

Edit: Sorry, I realize now that Google still exists. Instead, can I ask about your opinion on Storm Shields and whether or not you’d expect them to somehow end up in the hands of us lowly rejects?

Storm Shield and Suppression Shield are things that I’d say aren’t unlikely to happen though ideally with some cosmetic system modification for multi modelled weapons

Now toward how they could work, either they take the special attack, either completely replacing i (So no PSword + Suppression Shield), or having the special be block dependent (Block → Suppression; no Block-> PSword activation). Or they replace the push\attack with the Suppression/Storm channel

What about triggering on Perfect Block?

Have you played Rainbow 6 Siege, there some shields that basically are Suppression (The German attacker with the flashbang shield) and Storm (The British defender iirc, Crash or something) shields

Ah, maybe then something with a charge meter and when it’s full you can blast the shield special. And then a blessing could be to trigger the effect on Perfect Block because we need more incentive to go for perfect blocks.

Most weapons in DT shouldn’t be in the hands of rejects, cause there is a piety towards the tools of omnissiah. Also by lvl 30 guards in the hub call us “heroes of Atoma”.

Shields are common in Vermintides.

Also, they even added crusader cosmetics for zealot but without helmet, kekw, and overall look like a cheap cosplay, not a space knight.

I’ve long been in support of a sword and shield weapon for zealot based on crusaders and a mace and shield weapon for veteran based on arbites.

Or give them both to each. Make 'em power sword and shock maul instead. Or not. Whatever.

I just wish we had more shields. I wonder if they were worried that they would dominate the meta as everyone would just take shields to avoid ranged fire? But I feel like that could easily be avoided with lower stamina thresholds. Obviously, a human holding a shield will absorb less shock than an ogryn holding a shield and perhaps make heavier weapons (like Reapers) break your stamina nearly instantly. Las rounds would have very low stamina cost though which makes sense as they already have very low stagger.

I definitely feel like it could be done.

I’d also like a buckler weapon for ogryns:


Make it more mobile than the slab shield and unable to block ranged attacks but still effective in blocking melee attacks. To fill in the middle ground between full-on slab shields and the regular clubs.

I’d love an Ogryn Parry on the Brute Shield and Bullgryn Maul. Seems like a perfect fit for a small buckler like shield and it’d be a shame if only punies get a parry and riposte despite Ogryn getting a fitting shield for it.

Brute Shields are Power/Suppression shields, I’d expect them to have similar mechanics

This is one of my biggest gripes with the game right now: my support “Cleric” Zealot NEEDS a shield and mace, darn it!

Indeed. They could get some mileage out of creating a generic shield for humanoids and just combining it with different weapons. Then again they could do the same with Akimbo melee and they’ve yet to partake. I assume it’s the animations being the bottleneck here.

You know what’d be funny? If they gave all 4 operators the same sized shield, and it’s like a full shield for everyone but a buckler for the Ogryn.

I saw this on Google, and it looks so perfect. Just slap a mace or some kind of power sword (using Relic Blade’s heat mechanic perhaps?) on it instead.
