How to make managing warp charges more interesting

Warp charges are kind of a bad mechanic right now because the talent tree obviously wants you to generate them and weigh their value as a buff against what you can gain by spending them, but because only brain burst creates warp charges and they have a timer on them there is only one single way to play that actually gives you warp charges to stack or spend.

So here is a thought for making warp charges a lot more interesting to manage, while also making brain burst a more interesting tool in your arsenal.

  1. Warp charges don’t ever decay.
  2. They are generated passively from killing enemies with a 10% chance. (coherency counts)
  3. If you have a warp charge available Brain Burst costs nothing, but uses one.
  4. Change Kinetic Barrage so that it generates 2 warp charges rather than reducing the cost of brain burst.
  5. Change Quicken so you can use Psykinetic’s wrath a second time while it’s already on cooldown at the cost of four warp charges.
  6. Change Psychic Communion to work like Demolitions Stockpile and generate a charge every 45 seconds automatically.

That makes managing warp charge a lot more interesting, because hanging on to your charges obviously has beneficial effects, but you can also absolutely lay the smack down on an enemy if you’re firing off 4-6 brain bursts in a row without any cost.

Brain burst builds still work, and are in fact somewhat stronger. They won’t always have a full stack of charges, but warp charge should have always been an extra resource you gain, spend or save, not simply a buff that only people who use brain burst as their main weapon get.
