If VT2 is anything to go by, things are going to be wild for a few months after that tree comes out. Definitely going to be some broken, jank stuff that will be patched, and then somehow manage to be broken again in the ensuing patch. Then may or may not be fixed again for a couple years.
You’d be surprised how little time it takes to write on a forum, once you get going.
On any other sharkbash thread, I’d not respond - but countering on a Poll?!
2 different play testers on Discord have said it felt great and ready to ship back when they were testing it. Of course that’s not to say some things won’t function differently to their description or have odd buggy interactions with other things.
None of the poll options are quite right for my prediction. I’d be guessing that it will be mostly very functional but a smattering of old and new feats will have misleading descriptions and some bugs here and there.
The sad part is people are happy Fatshark is giving them a convoluted “rework” of existing classes (yes cant wait to % calculate all the nodes ) Instead of actually giving them NEW CLASSES with NEW WEAPONS.
well we are pretty much getting the equivalent of height subclass (completly new ult, new passiv, new power) for free so yeah I’m not gonna complain…
Half bugged and other half will be so power crept that damnation might as well not exist.
Last time they did something of this level in v2 we also got new difficulty tackled with the new talents. Its going to be interesting few months at the very least.
Your poll kinda lacks a few answers, it’s either calling it broken or EVERYTHING IS PERFECT!!!11
Anyway, I think most of the skills will work, both the the old and the new, albeit some of the new skills will be broken or maybe have unintended interactions.
The first few months with the new skill system will be the funniest, when this community figures out broken Blessing / Perk / Talent interactions with each other. Can’t wait.
OP does seem to have made a salty Karen poll that left out the optimist but realist option, and forced us to pick the unrealistic perfect option with his own snarky commentary on it lol.
This is not just a rework of existing classes…
it adds everything like if they added 8 classes…
I prefer that instead of getting one new class. Especially when you consider the freedom of this skill tree. I love to be able to combine several skills of different “classes”.
And I agree with anthov4419… constant negativity. And yet people ask FS to communicate of what they plan. But if they did it, for sure they would just get negative comments.
Fact is, like any new system there will be bugs and balance will surely not be optimal. Nothing wrong with that. This is a normal path when you introduce things new.
I cannot answer the poll, no option describe what I think.
In my opinion, the 4 first choices are too negatives, the last one is too optimistic.
I would not qualify things as broken.
Holy crap, you really think we live in a world where negative comments are hurting developers feels?
Get your head out your butt.
Feedback, complaints, jokes and memes, this is the way of the internet. Developers filter this through community managers.
Christ, do you really think this is the worst of it?
How do you think DOTA2 and LoL gather their feedback? you think that is better or worse than this thread? To be honest, you people acting like this thread is poison? You’re pathetic.
Just a feeling… anything they do, there are people here that always will see it as negative.
But the point was… the poll has no choice that is close of what I think.
As I said, 4 are strongly negatives, the last one is too optimistic. This means that the result will be oriented to the expression of a negative feeling.
I didn’t want to call it out to avoid flamebait, but yes. This topic itself is sort of provocative and bait in a way. Still, we love discussions around here. I’m sure it’s not going to die any time now.
I agree. It will be great.
We will get essentially 8 new classes, but instead of being stuck hardline archetypes like in VT1, VT2 or any MMO, you will just be able to mix and match from those three available classes per character.
This is a pretty unique take on a class system and will set Darktide apart from most other games in a truly meaningful way. My only complaint is why this and all the other goodies they are releasing now weren’t in at the start? They’ve essentially massacred this games’ reputation, so they could get Christmas sales by releasing early in 2022 in and so they can have a honeymoon redemption arc, anime style.
But first impressions still matter a lot more and those have been butchered.
Anyway. Getting back on topic. This is sort of like WoW’s original talent system with three branching parts, but here the branches are all in the same tree and reconnect every few levels. I can’t wait to try it out. I’m curious if you can make an actual grenadier build with this. Or a true sharpshooter.
I have read everything you said about how they managed the release of DT. And I agree with every words you have written (and that’s why I did not comment cause you said everything).
The problem is really how they managed their project and the communication around it.
