How do you feel about new droprates?

Oh dang that’s right I forgot they had to be champ runs…

450-750 hours to get all 15 hats. Seems reasonable.

:joy: so reasonable (plus the 400hrs we already have)

So I was averaging about 1 new cosmetic an hour last night just from leveling up and doing the challenges. The event portrait looks really cool as well. Mind you we were speed running, my British/Irish group. I’ll be doing runs later today with my German group and see if the runs bear the same fruit.

In the group, the other 3 guys got about 2-4 cosmetics as well. And our Tank got 2 red items from 20 commendation chests.

Cool, but don’t tell that to anyone else. You might get killed because of envy.

hahaha, fair enough. I’m sure you remember my posts from before this patch. Across both my groups, close to 2000 hours, and we only had 1 cosmetic and a couple red items. The drop rate was insanely low.

This patch is definitely a step in the right direction. They just need to add in some sort of RNG safety catch for really unlucky people. Maybe after opening 50 chests your 51st chest will automatically have a cosmetic. Or perhaps each chest you open increases your chance of getting one by a small percentage. But even then, people can still be really unlucky.

I currently started playing a maplestory private server. Had some nostalgic feelings, used to play the game a lot back in 2008 during my late teen years. There is an item you have to use to upgrade your job skill, it has a 70% chance of working. I failed it 12 times… I mean, that’s almost statistically impossible, but I did it. People are always going to very unlucky when it comes to percentages.

yeah, I got one red from my comm chests yesterday. Guess what, it was SnD, the only red weapon I already have. #Salt

well… at least it has a different illusion.

About the cosmetic drops… I had about 40 chests and got 0 hats and 2 reds. My friend had 100-something chests and got 3 hats and 1 red I think. Feels quite random, but well… since you can get some nice stuff from the new mission/quest book, I think it’s pretty good.

Hat drop rates are a tad bit tedious to say the least, red items… I have no conclusion yet, but so far, they seem to drop at a rate where going full books is worth it and it doesn’t feel like running against the same wall again and again. The carrot on the stick is definitely further in reach. But hey, I got my Slayer Bardin dual mohawk, the only cosmetic I’d ever care about

Yeah RNG is a terrible… terrible way of divying up loot no matter how good the odds. I really miss the contract board from VT1 letting us pick the item we want then earn it.

Considering those hats can also drop from commendation chests (I got the Shade one lastnight), only the poor souls who are really f*** by RNG would be in that boat. Bad luck / dupe protections would make this a non-issue so I really hope we get them.

When were reds ever an indication of skill? Since when is this game hard? Cry more.

I don’t disagree entirely with your sentiment but I think he means more along the lines of the fact that at first, to have good odds of getting reds a player had to be able to reliably clear legend… but then it was made so both legend and champ had good droprates… and now supposedly a new player could just crack one in a commendation chest day one. If so, skill was probably a bad word. I think he means more effort or “time in.” That said, RNG is RNG is c@ncer no matter how you slice it so while there are a lot of things to be really upset about right now, the red thing to me is meh.

Feels bad man. I am one of those very unlucky people who need bad luck protection.

Before 1.1, ~200 hours play time on Steam’s counter: 0 cosmetics, 0 reds.

This is with opening every commendation chest ever earned with Kruber. I’m almost level 30 with all the characters, and he’s level 30+9. Hundreds of boxes on the same character and nothing.

Post 1.1, after opening ~40 boxes on Kruber: 0 and 0

My motivation to play this game is plummeting faster than than the Fort Brachsenbrücke cannonball dropped on some poor skavens’ heads. I know that’s a tiny sample size, and not worth taking seriously, but then I looked at how the quest system worked, and behold! More chests.

When my friend texted me that the Bounty Board was back, I was so excited. Finally, I’d be able to reliably earn my way to my first cosmetic or red item, I so foolishly thought… Now that I see all you get is more chests, my incentive to keep getting more, despite the new improved rates, is at an all-time low. I’m done with the RNG.

THANK GOD Total War: Warhammer II got a content injection this week as well. I need my Warhammer fix, and right now, Vermintide is simply not doing the right things to keep me into it. Feels bad, makes me sad, because I want to love it.

The quest board needs to stop offering boxes and start offering guaranteed items with the quest being lengthy enough to justify it. The RNG is sickening.

Giving people more boxes doesn’t solve the RNG problem.

I opened 14 saved commendation chests, 2 soldier’s chests, and 2 emperor’s chests earlier. Didn’t get a single red or cosmetic. I still have zero reds and cosmetics. I’m not getting the rewards I need to keep playing, so I’m unhappy with the drop rates even after the most recent supposed increase. I’ve put too much time into this game to not have a red or cosmetic at this point. I feel like playing any more without a guaranteed red or cosmetic is a waste of time.

RNG has got to be the most disrespectful and insidious mechanic in gaming. There will always be people who get 100% screwed by bad luck. It’s just the laziest reward design possible and it erodes my enjoyment of any game that features it in this kind of capacity. I can’t think of any other game in which RNG factors so heavily and it’s driving me nuts.

they’re so high i kind of wonder what the point of reds is at this point. every game is just people with blue glowing bits everywhere. i opened like 7 today. but i guess legend hasn’t been the cool kids club in many many patches so i guess reds were gonna go the same way

Don’t you realize or do you refuse to realize, that getting one hat for each career would require 2000 hours on average now? One freaking hat!

Also, as you rightly mentioned, there is gonna be people

They do exist already, they’re not just some hypothetical beings. And there is hundreds of them. Sure, there is also lucky luckers like @shadowsprite, getting half of the hat stock in a matter of moments, but does this compensate for the frustration of those poor people?!

Probably not. And probably those people are just gonna leave the game, if not left already. And leave a negative review everywhere they can. And they have every right to do so.

So yes,

Will make things A LOT better, but afterwards they "yet ungrateful community"™ will realize, that even with bad luck protection getting skins is extremely slow and tedious and will “whine” yet again.

And last thing: doesn’t it bug you, that it’s been 3 months already, more if you count beta, but we still didn’t get such basic thing as bad luck protection? Don’t you think this could have affected game popularity, playerbase and score in any way?

Yeah, people finally, after 3 months, were able to get 1 melee weapon and 1 red gun, and are now running around showing their precious treasure to everyone. That’s completely unacceptable! Devs should urgently revert the changes back and take away all reds, because having a red SUDDENLY after 3 months is becoming common, but only chosen ones who possess outstanding ̶s̶k̶i̶l̶l̶s luck are allowed to have one!

Lots of reds! No cosmetics yet sadly. My first one was the helmet for Bardin when I needed greens a long time ago. Can’t even remember which patch.

Farmed the challenge cosmetics for WS though. Except the head.

Does anyone know if the Pale Queen hat from V1 is back? I farmed that forever in V1 and didn’t get it there either.
