just to clarify the game runs after clicking ok right?

I can give you an exe so you can try to run the init code for direct storage, but I would expect you to fail or crash on it.

Yes, the game runs without error after clicking ok.

I’m willing to try the exe.

try replace the exe with this (store the old exe so you can switch back). Do you get another popup or will it continue silently? if you got another popup you can screenshot it as well.

Edit: you can double click the exe to launch it.

I’ve been having this same exact issue, I tried disabling direct storage but it caused my PC to bluescreen after some time.

By disabling you mean changing the user config as the popup suggests?

Exactly that, the game was laggy but playable afterwords, but then it full on bluescreened my computer after a mission

Same issue here

Same issue here on Windows 10 Home, build 9200.

After trying to replace the Darktide.exe with @Axloss’s one, I get this:

hmm check so apparently it was not enought to send exe.

I guess the AV doesn’t like that the exe is not signed. Why it detect a trojan :person_shrugging: :see_no_evil:

I guess we can just remove the check and let direct storage handle it, which was what my change did.

In the meantime I would disable direct storage, but I doubt you can run direct storage since your build version is so low, but perhaps LTS version has a completely different build numbers which makes it hard to check.

I will try make it work more similar to before, were this issue was hidden if you failed to init direct storage.

Thank you, Axloss. So this fix will be released in a future Darktide hotfix/patch?

yes I added so it will be in next patch. I made the fixes too late for 1.6.4 sadly since this was a unplanned hotfix for xbox. I assume the patch will be after christmas holidays since both we and other partners will be short staffed.

I can check if we can make this part of the experimental branch that we have on steam. If this is a blocker.

Thanks and happy holidays.

As long as it’s a known issue that gives me hope that it’s going to be fixed eventually, that’s what matters for me.

I just launched the game after updating to 1.6.5 (Hotfix 58) and the error is gone. Thanks!
