don’t get me wrong I’ve been waitng for a admech class for years and got my christmas present and love it, but I feel like adding eldar or sisters of battle would be too much since they’re basically almost on pair of space marines in terms of power level, yes I know our rejects technically can take on space marines as a squad not 1v1 but you get what I mean.
and instead of new classes I would rather have new weapons for all classes and new maps instead because that will greatly improve health of the base game for everyone and add extra replayability, to have a flamer pistol for all human sized classes [ogryn and skitarii are posthuman and bigger] would be a great start, and for ogryn to get a new melee weapon and grenade gauntlet mark/variant, and arc pistol and taser goad for skitarii would do wonders
and to have new maps combined with new enemy types would be a great addition to, i’ll take that over a new class any day imho.
there aren’t only battle sisters, there are also sister hospitallers or sister novitiates which are more or less the lowest rank of a future battle sister, with no power armor
and btw battle sisters are not biologically enhanced like space marines, they are not close to on par with space marines, battle sisters have strong weapons and trained but space marines are way more powerful in the 40k universe.
dt devs said already they have no plans but just for the space marines only. but logically it still would make sense to send space marines or even battle sisters on atoma prime if there was the urgency and need for it, if there were even more greater threats. and devs didn’t say anything for battle sisters for now
it is likely that with a possible introduction of a sister there will be also melta gun introduced, along with maybe different eviscerator marks/flamethrower marks etc.
They could give us more maps in the clandestium gloriana area. Rumors of lost relics or just an exploratory mission which could lead into new weapons for all the classess.
even tho I think an eldar class would be nutty cool I just don’t see how any eldar would help on cleaning out a hive world while under imperial rule, unless some compensation is involved, which I doubt most the inqusition would agree, I can only see the eldar getting involved as a new vendor or background characters we met than a playable class honestly, same with sisters of battle since most of their arsenel is basically a zealot but with power armor involved
I see leagues of votann, the squats basically, and enginseer tech priests more possible for playable classes but that’s just my opinion on it.
I know but it’s the power armor and weapons is what makes them pretty capable of almost 1v1’ing space marines which did happen before in some lore, so yeah it’s techically a semi space marine type class aside from arbites
a tech priest enginseer or leagues of votann class would be more workable since those are more common or reasonable to work with in our case on atoma, but that’s just my opinion on the matter.
Actually, I would much rather Fatshark focus on optimizing the game properly. If the game could run much more smoothly than it does now, I’d be perfectly fine with them slowing down or even pausing content updates to make that happen.
the engine itself is kinda the problem with the optimization, even though it’s an upgraded version of their own bitsquid/autodesk engine, still bad. and i don’t think they can do anything.
also as soon you start using mods, there will be a memory leak and game will start running worse after hours of playing. and you need to restart to fix it.
only way to run properly darktide right now it’s just by using frame gen ngl.
no wonder their next may be with unreal engine 5 cause optimization wise is actually way better if used well.
This game engine is now almost exclusively used by Fatshark and Arrowhead. Compared to UE5, it has irreplaceable advantages—especially in generating enemy hordes and delivering detailed dismemberment effects, which are unique to this engine.
Maps and weapons would be amazing and to be honest I think most everyone would agree.
It remains to be seen how much class money will impact the decision makers at FS, we’ve had 3 in a year and they’ve all sold gangbusters. If we get 3 more next year you’ll know who’s calling the shots!
IMO between that and the Expeditions thing I’m not sure they want to give us what we want… Freeing the Modifiers would change my mind though
WHAT?! Don’t be silly, sir! This is FatShark, the game developer-equivalent of the short bus.
No no no no no, it’s much more sensible and prudent to spend time creating game modes nobody likes, steadfastly ignoring consistent player feedback requests, and… Actually what else have they been doing?
Like, seriously? My joke kinda fell apart after I started to ask myself that. Honest to god, I’m not asking to be snide [though that’s a happy side effect], am I just having a brain fart and there’s something I’m forgetting?
IF we assume tabletop models that are close thematically to the 4 base rejects, (command squad guardsmen, ministorum priest, primaris psyker, bone ead ogryn) they demolish a marine in first turn of combat 95% of the time. they still win against a squad of 5 marines loosing one model on average doing so.
they cannot (for the most part) wipe out 10 poxwalkers in a turn. (avg 5)
if we go by what the rejects actually do in mission gameplay, they could absolutely body 50 marines a mission
and before anyone says “table top” isnt accurate, “DT gameplay isnt accurate”
yes it isnt,
so why care that the gameplay should represent accurately what they are supposedly be capable of, if they are already not accurately portrayed and way more capable in gameplay?
they constantly demolish demons like the beast of nurgle, who already are above spacemarines.. (about 2% chance they kill it in a turn, and because it has “Grotesque Regeneration.” would heal to max HP at the start of its turn, its a bazillion times harder to get rid off than a marine)
imean you can make up plenty of reasons if you want to, “farseer Nutjeebius wants an artifact to devine some BS, its located on an now imperial fortressworld, in exchange for help in the defense of tertium grendyl promises free passage and protection to the expedition” its 40k they have a writer they can conjure up a plot.
This would be alleviated somewhat if some of the new class weapons were usable on other classes like in VT2. Like for example getting to use Engi’s pistol on Ranger Vet added great value to that DLC, and this feature in general helped DLC classes to function as a bigger boost to all round play style variety.
I’m not sure why exactly it doesn’t work this way in Darktide, but it’s a shame because it does put more onus on them to be releasing more other general content that doesn’t generate money for them so it seems like a lose lose all round.
And to point out for others, folks tend to forget the Sororitas are the Chamber Militant of the Ordo Hereticus with the whole Convocation of Nephilim and the formalisation of both the Ordo and the Sororitas… The Ordo we’re a part of here (or are integrated heavily with while goals align for Dog-walkers & Lego-zombies at the very least)…
All Grendyl has to do is get on a Skype call…
Hestia’s already here, “Rannick’s Protégé” by all accounts…
All the rejects already running around with “Ministorum Guardian” etc…
I’m just saying, Sororitas are one of my favourite factions and wouldn’t be surprised nor upset if the new code name ends up being “Devout” or something along those lines, and how many times are folks all over the place gonna try forcing this angle of “but muh lore”, “won’t fit” etc., when (as has been the case since the inception of the setting):
if someone at GW thinks “yo that sounds fire” the lore doesn’t matter anymore
Either way, we’re waiting to see how far they get down these (seemingly very long) “short lists” if the interviews are anything to go by
Summary
(I’d also gladly take “Dastardly” or something for a cold trader or spyrer or someother unscrupulous type lmao)
Though I’d also be happy for the weird Aeldari stans to get their cake once we hit codename “K” and Knife-Ear pops up in the code a few times
it’s not a hot take, it is what it is. playing the same old missions with a new class is a novelty but it wears off quickly, and the surge in player numbers from the class release is gone. i’ve said his several times. the game needs new missions and enemies to keep the growth.
