Hi guys, I've designed a new career, and I've written it down in great detail. Come and have a look

New Class: Adeptus Mechanicus Sage

Class Lore:
Unlike the prisoners coerced into the Inquisition’s strike teams, the Adeptus Mechanicus Sage came to the hive city of Tertium to study the secrets of Morbian Steel. When the Sage discovered that heretics had defiled this sacred alloy and turned it against the God-Emperor, their wrath ignited. Now, they vow to unleash the Omnissiah’s fury upon all who desecrate the Machine God’s holy metallurgy.

Passive Ability — Parts Scavenger
The Sage scavenges Morbian Steel components from fallen Heretics and Traitor Guardsmen. These components can be used to either fabricate combat augments for allies or craft temporary weapons mid-battle.

Unique Mechanic — Machine Spirit’s Reblessing
The Sage can expend 1 stack of Morbian Steel Components to restore 1 Medicae charge to a depleted station. Reactivated stations emit holy incense (visual: blue Mechanicus glyphs) and cannot be reused .
“The Omnissiah’s grace flows anew… once.”

Active Abilities

1. (Support) Rite of Restoration

The Sage channels sacred Mechanicus rituals, consuming 2 Morbian Steel Components to heal allies. Targets regain 35% Health over 4 seconds.

Upgrade Paths:

  • Blessed Anointment: Heal +15% additional Health OR
  • Purity Protocol: Remove 25% Corruption

“Flesh is weakness, but the Omnissiah permits temporary repairs.”

2. (Control) Fortified Emplacement

Deploy a Morbian-pattern Heavy Sentry with 100 rounds. The turret unleashes suppressive fire (150% stagger intensity) but cannot damage Armored enemies.

Upgrade Paths:

  • Promethium Baptism: Bullets inflict Soulblaze (3% HP burn/sec for 5s) OR
  • Penetrant Doctrine: Switch to armor-piercing mode (damages Crushers but reduces ammo to 30 rounds and fire rate by 40%)

“Witness the Deus Ex Ballistica!”

3. (Enhancement) Omnissiah’s Reconfiguration

Consume 3 Components to permanently enhance an ally’s weapon with one of the following effects (lasts until mission end):

  • Pyretic Conduit: 15% chance to apply Burning on hit (stacks with Zealot’s Purge effects)
  • Voltaic Overdrive: Strikes chain lightning to 2 enemies within 3m, dealing Voltaic Damage (0.5s stun)

“The machine-spirit hungers… for upgrades.”

Am I misremembering stuff, or did I see the variation of mechanicus career like 10 times already?

I am amazed of how much this community CRAVES Mechanicus in Darktide, and not like funny little Ratling guy (I WANT THIS)

Aura Effects

1. Voltaic Conduit

The Sage channels the Motive Force’s wrath:

  • Allies gain +5% Voltaic Damage
  • Electrified attacks jump to +1 additional target

“The Omnissiah’s lightning hungers for new conduits!”

2. Pyretic Doctrine

The Sage optimizes combustion algorithms:

  • Allies deal +5% Burning Damage
  • Burning effects on enemies last +5 seconds

“Let their screams fuel the sacred thermal cycles.”

3. Entropy Protocol

The Sage disrupts enemy machine-spirits:

  • Allies’ attacks inflict 5% Movement Speed Reduction and 5% Attack Speed Reduction on hit (Duration: 5s, 15s cooldown per target)

“Rust never sleeps… but your foes shall.”

What position do you think Ratling guy should be in

I want Ratlings as well, they got the short end of the stick from FS.

Unique Downed Mechanic: Machine Spirit’s Last Breath

Upon being downed, the Sage enters Critical System Failure:

  • Remains immobilized but can be revived via specialized auspex calibration (20s countdown).
  • Allies must channel 3 seconds to activate the Rite of Reboot (interaction bar displays binary cipher).

Mechanics:

  • Timer Suspension: The 20s countdown pauses while being revived.
  • Failure Consequence: If unrecovered, the Sage’s machine-spirit enters Dormancy Protocol (requires respawn at next Medicae Station).

“Error… ERR-0x12F// Omnissiah… rebooting… initiate… sacramental… rebuke…”

“Honestly, I just think the Adeptus Mechanicus Sage is such a badass concept – and I actually designed a full skill tree that does justice to their machine-saint vibes!”

The Sage’s sanctified mechadendrites enact divine countermeasures (triggers automatically, 120s cooldown):

  • Purging Backlash: Emit a concussive forcewave that knocks back Pox Hounds within 3m.
  • Sacrosanct Shears: Automatically destroy Trapper nets/Webway projectiles on contact.
  • Kinetic Nullifier: Stops Mutant mid-charge for 4s, forcing a stagger animation.

“The Machine Spirit tolerates no interruption to its sacred functions.”

In some awesome position, preferably on Ogryn’s shoulders

So he’s positioned as a support fire unit

Admech just has the most potential, even the one I’d want has much less than it.

  • Exclusive weapons
  • Exclusive cosmetics (Tech Priests and Skitarii stuff could happen, as we got Scion stuff without being one)
  • Easy to find abilities for it
  • Easy to create personalities that aren’t close to any of the current ones

On the other hand, most of the other candidates that are mentioned, Sister, Enforcer/Arbites, Ratling… lack one or more sides that really would let them play around with said origin.

Ratling having no exclusive weapon in lore, having very few known cosmetics (Most being IG regimental uniforms)

While I think that they would use the True Moebian steel toward the Admech archetype, I don’t think it would be for the character themselves, where to note are still called the Reject Squads by Morrow and co, but to trade for Admech weaponry (Goold ol’ Plasma Vox interception), where upon we would get Admech minded civilians, like Technica Cultists and such.

In all, the idea of having the archetype be set around Moebian Steel and having it be a global resource is nice, but the abilities and such don’t really interest me

Ha-ha. What do you think of my design

Fully agree. Another human who delegates power to friendly bots is just boring imo.

Ratling is much more unique.

But all this is pointless fan fiction anyway. I don’t think a new class will be introduced at all and if it is then it won’t be one created by a fan.

The design is nice, instead of soulblaze on bullets id think it would just be default fire burn damage

In Darktide I feel like a Tech-Priest would implement some talents seen in Rogue Trader (cRPG) by Pasqual such as

Machine Spirit Communion: In Darktide, it can buff and stack recoil reduction for allies in coherency, debuffs enemies damage reduction

Scanner Mechadendrite - highlights highest threat nearest to the Tech-Priest. Offers buff to Tech-Priest and teammates especially for Veterans Focus Target or Executioner Stance

Utility Mechadendrite - helps with Auspex “minigames” with the pictoglyphs reduced to 3 or 2 instead of 4, 2 grey dots on Phage Tree to make quicker resolve, and less drift on Rolling Steel Auspex Dot. Also helps in mele to fight and increase stagger,

Medicae Mechadendrite - offers a free Med Stimm heal aside from pickups

Melee Weapon exlusive is the Omnissian Wrench-Axe, can otherwise have a Power Axe (which would also have to be introduced into DT)

As for ranged weapons Meltagun (which we still need added to DT), Plasma gun, Plasma Pistol, Arc Rifle (which would be class exclusive), in general the discussion been going on for quite some time in its own discussion tab

If the talent tree doesn’t have “Duel wield plasma guns” talent, then I ain’t playing it.
