Specifically it was a post by Catfish in the Crafting Memorial.
Paraphrasing from corporate speak, it basically said ‘my bosses respond to all feedback with ‘remember the people who aren’t leaving feedback, they exist’’. This is a classic ‘silent majority’ argument and was quickly panned.
I ran some polls over the holiday. Bar Fatshark getting off it’s butt and doing some in the launcher again, this is the best they’re going to get. Less than ten percent of people like item acquisition or item upgrading as it currently stands.
I got 5 people into this game this year, all of them have quit playing once they got to max and saw how not good the Crafting is. This is a huge issue and I hope Fatshark has a plan to tackle it next year.
At best its used as a tool of aggregation. There’s no way they actually read any of these posts. Its a containment forum
Its funny because sure, there are people who don’t HATE the crafting system. But I’ve never spoken to a single person who loved it. Everyone is neutral to negative on it. Uniform internet feedback is negative. Every review is “i love this game BUT [crafting bad]”
Even funnier? The people not giving feedback are also the ones who aren’t going to whale for you. They’re GamePass players or hyper-casual people who’ll put in a hundred hours at the very most, maybe invest in the Imperial Edition and the cosmetics there at the end of the bell curve, and generally they’re not the people Fatshark needs to appease FOR THE REVENUE THEY’VE DECIDED THEY’RE GOING TO CHASE. Seriously! The cosmetic store is BUILT around long-term player retention and FOMO getting a solid revenue stream from whales, and the crafting not only actively drives the whales away, those whales are ALSO the people who’ll be the most vociferous with feedback!
