Given the current state of the game (namely absurd elite density) I can’t blame people for using DS and Plasma to be honest.

When there are 4 Maulers, 5 Ragers and 4 Crushers on the screen, of course you’re going to want a weapon that quickly dispatches them, instead of garbage like Thunder Hammer or Chain Axe, which do the same, but 2-3 times slower and stun/lock you into the animation.

Darktide needs a full rebalance from the ground up. Veteran and Zealot need complete skill tree reworks. Enemy spawns and stats need to be reajusted. It’s beyond asinine that Gunners/Ragers are more common than basic shooters and bruisers on the higher difficulty.

But that’s not going to happen lol.

I see your point. The state of the game makes for weapons that can quickly deal with Carapace a must. Low cleave and low armor penetration weapons are simply memes, throw picks.
Enemy hitmass becomes beyond absurd in the higher Havocs; so-called crowd control weapons like Thunder Hammer simply lose the ability to cleave through poxwalkers entirely and it’s pathetic. I think there could be less ‘looking into weapons’ and more of ‘looking into what arbitrarily turns most weapons from A tier to C- tier’ and I think arbitrary number changes (hitmass) and the overuse of enemies that require very particular solutions are largely at fault.

I mean yes, player power and difficulty tuning are intrinsically linked. That goes both ways though. Bringing down the top stuff allows more avenues to tune difficulty.

Reduce the effectiveness of infinite cleave AoEs and large volumes of trash mobs become more of a hindrance.

Nerf time to kill on crushers and now they don’t need to be spammed as much.

Differentiate weapon strengths and weaknesses more and now enemy composition can be more thoughtful.

You get the point.

The pace, literally, of the game is too quick. Because people can ick certain loadouts they just want to spam w as fast as possible to reduce failing rather than take fights slow and kill everything safely even if it takes an hour. The survival aspect of the teambased horde shooter is almost nil, people will just think ‘well its because x had y setup’ andget another match rather than thinking ‘if im a good player we will all win somehow’. Its ingrained in them.

So I agree, weapon balanceshould directly affect difficulty, not the other way around. However, I still feel we’re playing a glorified beta. Most vocal forumusers fix is to buff everything, breeze through Crushers (one of the only mob types that slows pace down) and not think that they should be challenging.

FS, please give my Zealot a Plasma gun for Christmas.

Ideally. But I believe that people are afraid that Fatshark will do one but not the other.

DS should have stayed psyker exclusive.

Psyker has 40% more melee damage than a fully stacked Martyrdom Zealot, almost double the movement speed, double the Cleave and generates like 50 Toughness every kill.

Make it Psyker exclusive again, and it’s now going to still be OP, just on Psyker.

Yeah this wasnt the case before the revamped talent trees. I’m not saying DS is not broken, it is and I also said it wouldn’t be a solution at this point.

He’s kinda right, cause it’s rarley you have 3-4 psykers in a team, but 3-4 human characters however? It’'s just scales badly.

Overall classic FS - leave a powercreep to exist for 3-6 months, teach players it’s a new reality now, then suddenly they will come after and shatter that reality causing people to cry and moan.

Here is a lifehack Fatshark, tweak things day 3 or 7, and say that it was a “bug” and “not intended”.

Cause in case with DS it takes only to open ingame damage numbers spreadsheet and say “lmao what are this numbers”

What damage? Once people realise stacking DS is a recipe for a loss they;ll take other weapons, which is happening.
