After trying it out in several matches, I didn’t get the sense that it was nerfed at all. Since the mod broke, I haven’t been able to use the creature spawner yet, so I couldn’t properly test parries and such, but it feels like its parry damage is significantly higher than Devil’s Claw. I could’ve sworn Fatshark explicitly said it would be nerfed, but it looks like it’s actually been buffed instead.
Am I the only one who feels that the blessings Uncanny Strike and Agile are absolutely unnecessary on this weapon?
The only reason so many ppl stopped using the dueling sword a while ago is because they believed it was getting nerfed, welp it wont be long now till were back to square one were everything is invalidated by ds yet again only this time its an actual cheatcode . Good job fatshark
For a company which has a knob for EVERY - SINGLE - DAMAGE - INSTANCE possible, without needing to touch base stats.
Its very fitting they once again, did not just do the simple thing - nerf the f-ck out of carapace and unyielding damage.
But we got this
A S+ tier weapon in literally everything with melee invul button
At this point I cant even meme about this, Tanner needed 5 minutes to prove this is badly done.
What the f-ck are the testing people doing?
Watched both videos. If the previous DS was in this patch, it would be doing more damage than the current one. Whether that constitutes a nerf on the whole depends on how you feel about the parry.
The light attacks are unchanged, including stagger values. Heavy stab damage obviously is nerfed, though I think they accidentally applied the impact changes meant for the Mk V on to all marks. At the very least they didn’t mention any impact changes for the Heavy stab.
Interestingly, they didn’t nerf the weapon as hard as was mentioned in the “leaked” notes from the last major update though it was pretty close to the same. My speculation is that they didn’t nerf it as hard because they also changed a lot of health pools. Anyway, other than Exploit Weakness (which tbf is a 20% dmg increase), every other talent is the same and was pickable in a build.
Uncanny strike wasn’t touched, neither base damage values.
I was one of those were asking to give DS parry. Tho the idea that parry should be a source of high damage against elites, not just addition to untouched DS.
High mobility and high attack speed weapon has no right to deal such high damage against elites with poke spam and not utilising special mechanics.
So, to summarize, the DS has been slightly nerfed (heavy stabs only), but since the classes themselves have been buffed (via the talent trees), you don’t feel it at all.
However, this should have helped reduce the gap (nay, the abyss) between the DS and other less-loved weapons.
But on the other hand, enemies’ HP have been buffed across the board in Heresy and above.
So we’re right back where we started, essentially.
Parry in and of itself isn’t a problem (no one thinks the d-claws are overpowered) and a parry makes sense on a weapon made for dueling, it’s the carapace damage and stagger that is the problem in my opinion.
DS4 stab damage output was nerfed. The raw numbers before buffs and such are lower. But they definitely did not go far enough. Even if some of the assertarions in the video aren’t correct, I hope people make more videos like this and convince Fatshark to finally nuke the damn thing from orbit.
about stagger, all weapons feel as now somehow do lot of stagger and send mobs fly around, perhaps there’s some kind of a bug about stagger and impact, it’s really very strange
